It's my second favourite after Viva Forever. I generally don't like pop ballads.
OK well at least 3 of the 4 remaining Spice Girls songs are pretty good in my view, and the 4th (Wannabe) is iconic so its placing is understandable! :)
Proof that Spice Girls songs are like buses  neither of those are exactly my cup of tea but I understand better why Spice Up Your Life has come this far - which acts of the last 10 years, female or male, could launch a hugely awaited album with a song that goes "we moonwalk the foxtrot and polka the salsa?" None that I can think of, and pop is an emptier place for it.

Both the Spice Girls tracks are goodies. Unlike Mariah's destroying of Without You, a cover of a genius version so bad that the great Harry Nilsson passed away around that time. I'm sure it's just co-incidence! Warbling, simpering and showing off your range is no substitute for emotion and controlled singing!

Eternal: oops so many fans! Shackles was an amazing track. I still turn off I Wanna Be The Only One and it's on oldies radio all the time. BeBe Winans is the best thing on it. Stay was a decent song (it's a cover) but everything else was distinctly average at best to me, sorry Eternal fans it's all just personal opinion in music! Joyous? Mmmbop! Girl Groups? Spices and All Saints much better, and All Saints had the distinct advantage of having a great co-songwriter in the band - Shaznay - and great producers.

We're finally hitting the big 100 points tonight so it should start to hurt a bit!
Unlike most of Mariah's high pitched warbling style tracks I don't actually mind her cover of Without You. Maybe it's because it's the first version I heard before I was introduced to the original. Her screeching over Against All Odds with added "help" from Westlife however... urgh!

Creating a host of records when it topped the charts for 10 weeks this was Whitney’s sole No 1 of the 90s and her final one ever.

Block Rockin Beats is not bad, but I much prefer t'other one still to come.

Gina G wuz robbed. It's fun.

Whitney is to Dolly as a truck-load of treacle is to an angel delight. :teresa:

Block Rockin Beats is so much better than the other one. I can't believe the other one is even in the top 100.
I love both. At the time I preferred Block Rockin' Beats but Setting Sun has really regrown in my affections now
I like both too, it's a pity Hey Boy Hey Girl didn't get to #1, it sounds more like a #1 than the other two to be honest
Is being likened to angel delight a compliment though? :D

one's light and fluffy and delightful and not bad for you and the other has so much stodge and sugar it will make you ill

Admittedly some people might prefer stodge to light and fluffy

I much prefer Setting Sun to Block Rockin Beats personally

Gina G is a great slice of Eurovision fun.

Unpopular opinion but i’m not a big fan of Whitney’s IWALY. I used to be indifferent towards it but would probably skip it on a playlist now and am grateful for discovering Dolly’s version. I can’t deny it’s iconic and gives Whitney a great chance to show off her vocal power but personally it can’t hold a candle to some of her other hits. Give me Saving All My Love For You over this any day.
