This is such a strange comment to make cause there are plenty of solo artists who don’t write their own material?

I feel like you have to look at it a bit more open minded tbh - she obviously enjoyed her time in Little Mix - she got to travel the world, meet millions of fans and perform on some of the biggest stages - but from her perspective, some of it was absolutely shit and you can't blame her for that. I feel like something that needs reiterating a lot is that she attempted suicide - because the amount of mental anguish you have to be in to attempt something like that is a lot and the after effects of it can be even worse when having to deal with your own mental health, even though she enjoyed Little Mix a lot of the experience was probably ruined due to these sorts of things.

This post isn't meant to attack btw, I just think it's important to look at it objectively and see what's presented - it's not so black and white that she hated her experience and was lying, but were the bad times worse than the good? maybe

I get that I really do but she constantly refers to the last 10 years being the worst ever!

I don’t think I’ve heard anything positive only in terms of ‘we achieved alot’ or ‘I’m grateful for the platform’ it’s sad how she doesn’t have any stand out moments of amazing times because it really seems like there isn’t any or at least any that outweigh the negative aspects.

It’s just sad because you don’t just buy into the music you buy in the people / artists. It does make you realise just how machine like the industry is (Obviously there’s less of that these days) but you genuinely believe the artists are living the dream and having the best time.

Jesy made it abundantly clear during her time in the band that the writing wasn’t her thing and left it to Leigh and Jade to do.

why would she spend her time writing pop music that she doesn't like?

'the UK baddie', the grill, Nicki Minaj featuring...

This is EXACTLY what I meant when I said that this girl just isn't cut out for fame and being in the public eye. She's either completely stupid/oblivious or arrogant. There's no way you can make a f***ing documentary about online trolling, leave a group where you're surrounded by your best friends and only 1/4 of the attention and go solo, all eyes on you and pull these stunts for your FIRST single.

I said this before but if she hates being bullied and made fun of online then she better be ready for the 'UK baddie' thing being taken the piss out of forever now. How on earth is Jesy Nelson the UK baddie??? Twitter and Facebook and Daily Mail are going to have a field day with this.

Exactly, I think she's made it pretty clear!

Jesy continues to say great things about the girls, but some people still can't help themselves. If they don't like her they can avoid this thread or her upcoming projects. Otherwise we'll be going on circles, she left coming up to a year ago!

We've known about the 'UK baddie', grills and Nicki Minaj feature for months now, we don't need dramatics each time we're shown something we already knew..

Dailymail have a field day with anything.

If it bothers people, just don't pay attention to her.

The interview was cute and all. But I have stopped believing the things artistes say in interviews unless the actual dots really connect. She clearly stated she was pretending and lying a lot of her time in Little Mix. So she can also say next year that a lot of things she said in this interview were lies.

From what is visible however,

1. Being in a manufactured pop group is VERY tough.

2. Genuine friendship makes #1 above easier. Once that starts to diminish, the end begins.

3. Jesy's mental health has struggled; but do we know that of the other girls? In the Glory Days Documentary, Jesy herself said that Perrie had been through so much, and she (Jesy) thinks Perrie is such a strong woman to be standing despite what she's been through. Perrie also had (?Still has) panic attacks especially during Glory Days tour. Leigh-Anne's Documentary spoke volumes: Your own fans ignoring you and trooping towards your bandmates! How much impact this had on her mental health, we don't know.

This all reinforces point 1

4. It's ok to leave a group for whatever reason. Whether it makes sense to the public or not shouldn't matter. We can never know enough of what happens behind closed doors. She has left, and that's it. She should do what makes her happy.

5. The other three should continue for as long as they wish, and do what makes them happy too.

6. I personally feel they shouldn't let the Little Mix brand die though. Previous bands are learning their lessons, albeit late, and having reunion tours here and there to fill up sinking pockets.

7. Can't wait to hear her new song/album!

This is the first time we heard the 'UK baddie' thing?

The passive aggressive shrugging away any criticism as 'don't pay attention if it bothers you' is exactly like Jesy's attitude. It's not cute.

At the same time though, people seem to be really enjoying sticking the boot in at any point and so it becomes boring when people just keep reiterating the same thing (you said yourself that you were repeating yourself in your previous post). I don’t really understand your initial point either, what has her mental health issues and reasons for leaving got to do with the grills and the Nicki collab?

Thank you, this.

Also Shadow, the 'UK Baddie' thing has been known for a while.

The claims that she will be making the music she wants will age like milk when the song will be no different to a Little Mix release tho.

And if she isn’t part of the group and comparisons shouldn’t be made, maybe this thread needs to be moved out of it.

I'm always going to have a heart for Jesy. Her spirit really powered the early years of Little Mix & her tone is so special.

I wish she maybe would've waited more time before releasing, because I think whatever negative attention comes her way is going to hurt her. I hope she has a great support system. I also really hope she gets a hold of the blackfishing. I get that she thinks people are unnecessarily criticizing her on this because of her past history, but it is really hurtful towards the affected communities.

It was nice to hear her say complimentary things towards the girls in the Josh Smith interview. I hope some day, even if she'll never rejoin the group, she'll regain a friendship with them (especially Perrie as it seems they were really close in the last few years she was in LM).

Comparing Jesys mental health journey with that of Perrie or Leish is redundant because everyone responds to things differently. Jesy was actively bullied by literally thousands of people for nine years.

As someone who has panic attacks I understand why her breaking point was when it was because panic attacks are like fight or flight. Your mind and body being like 'you don't feel right or safe in this situation'.

I've just left hospitality after 18 years because I was getting panic attacks frequently and that for me came from part of the job being that you have to keep a smile on your face and 'take one for the team' whatever is going on and I tell you it is exhausting. Her reasons are genuine and she is also entitled to change her opinion on the past after getting new perspectives during healing.

When she says she was lying about how she felt in the last interview- the is a girl who can NEVER win. Ever. Whatever she does she does it wrong so if she said she wasn't happy she would have been bombarded with abuse about 'well shouldn't have left then'. Recovery is a long and tricky journey and sometimes you think you have recovered more than you have.

Not a comparison per se. It's about how much impact being in a pop group can have on people, especially when they start so young. Of course, we know people react to things differently, and people vocalise their struggles differently! I don't think anybody is making light of her situation. Like I said, whether it makes sense to people or not, it's ultimately her life. If she was not happy in the group, she's done the right thing to leave; and only she can decide when it's right for her!

Hearing Jesy's interview made me really sympathise with her, way more than I have been lately - hearing everything from herself personally feels really genuine and you can tell she has a lot of respect for the girls still. It must be hard as I feel like there is a huge amount of conflict and uncertainty in what she feels and with what her relationship to music/fame is. But I also feel like a lot of her feelings on "being in a group" are actually misplaced and that she may in fact find it more difficult as a solo artist going forward. I obviously hope this isn't the case and she gets the freedom and finds the happiness in the industry she craves.
