Love Sweet Love flopped because it was poor

No flopped because it was poor (Plus really confusing with Cut You off / Galantis remix being pushed)

I think they should have left it longer and released Between Us as the final single / Lead for the album.

I love Love Sweet Love and No...But I can see why the public wouldn’t. ‘No’ sounded like The Saturdays (Classic Girlband).

On top of that there was no interest from Leigh and Perrie because they were busy being mums.

I don't agree with this.

Enough time has passed for us to admit that Love Sweet Love is a solid banger, and if it were released with a better video/actual single campaign, then it would've done better. Love Sweet Love is also the exact type of song that Little Mix would release, so I don't think audience connection/song quality was the issue.

I do agree with the overexposure sentiments, but also Little Mix simply did not want to continue with a traditional campaign and I can't blame them. Between Us' entire campaign was a mess, mainly because of Jesy + Boyz + the constant media battle. Little Mix had to remain so quiet for so long because of that release, which is probably why No and Love Sweet Love were swapped as single choices.

Whoever said Between Us should have been the lead, I agree - Between Us with the cute video we got would've been good enough, but also it was a Greatest Hits, I'm not expecting any big single hit.

(also comparing them to the saturdays ffffff stop it right now)

There's only so much support that the girls can get. Not even Ed Sheeran could get away with releasing so much content in a year and expect everything to be a big hit. If there's too many songs released then some are going to overshadow the others.

Exactly and that's why the girls have talked about releasing their solo stuff at different times to avoid competing with each other for playlist spots - to be fair, I think the label were well aware that they had a current hit with Heartbreak Anthem and Kiss My which is probably why they didn't try very hard with Love Sweet Love. If it was a hit, great, if it wasn't - oh well, the collection was going to sell itself either way and it was never going tarnish their legacy since they've had low-charting singles before.

Ed Sheeran had six singles released in 2019 alone. All went top five, and four of them went to #1.

In the past 16 months, Becky Hill has had 7 singles out - all of which have had decent chart performances, with only one not making top 40.

I'm sure there are other examples.

Promotion? They did a number of radio interviews (even whilst being moms), and 2/3 of them posted all singles on Social Media. All singles had videos, and had some playlisting, but they failed to rise - even after Christmas!

Their time (for the moment) was up, and a break (whether official or not) was a good idea.

LSL is a bop and is amazing live.

They released HBA 3 weeks after confetti and Kiss 2 months after that and LSL 2 months after that. All far too soon. NTFT should've veen bigger but SM hadn't even peaked yet.

Moved all the posts from the 'Sweet Melody' thread into this one coz it went too far off talk about SM
Great to see between us having such a solid chart run, its hard to believe its 1st anniversary isnt far away and all going it might still be top 40 when the time comes around.

I feel they could have had stringer material for the new songs to go in the break on a high note.

That said the songs were good.

I suppose Taylor Swift and Arctic Monkeys will be displacing this album from the 2022 top 5 UK albums.

Top 10 would still be a great result for this

I presuming it’ll be outright second soon and maybe even a chance of first in 2023?

Not possible since there will only be at most 52 charting weeks and to become first it would need around 115 weeks, so over 2 years. That just shows you what a GIANT 'Glory Days' was.

EDIT: Oops, it says Top 40, yes it probably will become first next year. I'll shut up now.
