God the fact that technically every single person involved with this song has praised it immensely 😭 are we really in for THAT much of a treat??

So we have ABBA, Drake & JLS to contend with...

 

JLS will have a big weekend on iTunes, but I'm really unsure about what their streaming support will be. Drake I presume will be an instant smash and ABBA... idk. I have zero idea of what to expect but I imagine there will be quite a bit of hype

I'm being a bit pessimistic and guessing its gonna debut in the top 15. I think it's extremely likely that Drake will have 3 tracks top 10 and it's possible that the Kanye songs will still be doing well as well. I really don't think JLS or ABBA will be an issue, but I guess It depends on what the songs are like.

hype is different to actual impact though - I'm not expecting ABBA or JLS to make much noise, I think JLS may go top 5 on iTunes, but iTunes is also Little Mix's domain too lool

 

I remember when All Saints came back and they relatively did nothing and they were super successful, Spice Girls even released a "new"-ish song and it didn't do anything (albeit with no promo or push but since they were HUGE I would have expected a little bit of something)

 

Drake is going to be the main issue and the leftovers of Kanye's album and if Bey releases but hopefully album tracks will eventually fall and there'll just be singles left after a few days, I don't see it massively struggling - people are perched for LM3

I think it will hold its own. I’m going to say a top 10 debut. This feels big and I hope they go all out with it. People are excited for LM3.

 

Drake will easily be the biggest threat. I genuinely can’t see JLS or Abba threatening the girls first week though.

 

Kanye should also start seeing his tracks fall this week so not too worried about him either.

I'm thinking top 15/20.

 

I think it will do amazingly but that's purely on Kayne and Drake hanging around still.

 

I really don't think JLS will be able to secure big enough streaming numbers.

I definitely dont think the debut will be its peak, theres quite a few new releases that will probably be ahead but i honestly think this will be big for them. Im so excited to hear it now

really? if there's anything sweet melody, confetti, heartbreak anthem & even kiss my have taught us is that debut position is not their peak position..

 

i can see it maybe struggling for a week or two on the charts just to find its footing since there's so many big releases on Friday and also lingering from prev weeks but I don't see it being a flop, top 10 peak, possibly top 15 debut.

 

would love to see top 5 peak but top 10 is fine for me.

With the girls these days, even though doing well on debut week is always nice, I don't even worry too much since they've been peaking weeks in with every past release.

 

Also I read on ATRL that if they'd released on Sept. 10th as originally planned they would've likely avoided ACR for LS with the album release, whereas now they're 1 week short :(

We'll get Shadow moaning regardless that they're over in week 3.

 

I think if they had not already released Kiss My so recently; they'd have managed a top 10 debut maybe but it's been pretty much back to back releases all week so I feel hype is lower than usual.

Yeah thats what i said lol, i said i dont think the debut will be its peak. Im confident it will rise regardless of how low (or high) the debut is.

I'm assuming that a new single will be pushed with the album release so I guess its not gonna be that big of a deal if it hits ACR then. Although I could be wrong.

Someone on a brazilian forum has heard the song and mentioned they felt nostalgic listening to it, besides complimenting the production.

 

Also, the same person mentioned they heard the Sweet Melody demo in some other artists' versions and the only ones half decent were Zara's demo and Tayla's writing demo, adding that the girls' version's post production made all the difference, as did Jesy's tone which added a lot to the song.

did they mention anything about the vocal? i'm v intrigued to hear how they sing it given that MNEK personally commented on the vocals were a standout.

not particularly about that but he did mention he's noticed his thing with them is the vocals and harmonising so maybe it's related?
