Is Call the Shots a ballad? Some people think so, but I really don’t. Sure it has emotional lyrics but I think it’s mid tempo for the most part, and then *that* chorus strays way too far from what I’d consider to be a typical ballad. That chorus goes way too hard. All I can say is that crowds were not swaying their arms to Call the Shots at concerts lol.

 

That’s just my view, what do you think?

And much like I said in that thread too, I've always considered this a mid-tempo! I've never been especially good at explaining my thinking on music, but to me songs like this and ITWYMMF have too much ''energy'' to be ballads, aside from any BPM considerations.

Call the shots is a song i always enjoy from them, i never tire of it.

Absolutely a mid tempo.

 

See The Day, Whole Lotta History and I'll Stand By You are ballads, Call The Shots is a lot "faster" than those kind of songs.

I never liked this, but after seeing Nadine perform it last weekend it's taken on a whole new dimension and I think it's finally clicked (after 13 years) *.*
