I really liked A Hundred Years Of Winter, Kiss Of Life, A Million Years and The Slightest Touch on first album listen!!

Some tracks I really didnt vibe with were Wasted Tears and Living In A Lie.

Oh my get re-listening Wasted Tears is a BOP! Also Living in a lie really grew on me!

Just read through everything.

I’m aiming to listen to the album and provide my thoughts later on today.

Take Me For A Ride - The extended into really elevates this song. I was a big fan of this when it was first released, then stated to go off it after a few weeks. Back to really loving it now and as I've stated that intro really lifts it. Wouldn't have chosen it to launch Part 2 but it's still good. Perhaps I should revisit the video.

Heartbreak In This City with Michelle Visage - I love this song on Part 1, but on here it doesn't really fit right with me. I still love this song, it's a sold Steps bop. That chorus is fantastic, perhaps it should've been a bonus track or the last track on the album.

Wasted Tears - I really like this but think it's just a great album track. The quality on this album is so high though so that's not a bad thing.

A Hundred Years Of Winter - After two or three listens I'd started to think this was pretty average but it's really come into it's own for me now. I've started to really like it, I can't quite put my finger on it as to why but I think it'll be a great single choice with a great video.

Living A Lie - My favourite song on the album and in my top 3 since their return in 2017. Such a brilliantly crafted sugar coated pop gem that wouldn't sound out of place at Eurovision or in a musical. I hope this becomes a single at some point or at least performed on tour. I'd imagine it'd work well in a medley with Something In Your Eyes, though both songs deserve their own individual slot on the set list.

A Million Years - I loved this on first listen but I'd comfortably have this third of this set of songs. I still like it, the chorus is great. This is such a strong set of songs though.

(I feel like I'm being a little contradictory)

Trouble & Love - This has really snuck up on me and is now in my top handful on the album, it passed over me a little on my first listen but I'm glad it's started to really sink in.

Victorious - I'd read peoples love for the original of this song before it was released, so I decided to steer clear of it as I didn't want to make comparisons straight away. Such a great song, hopefully it's a single or at least performed on the tour. I can imagine it being a real highlight.

Kiss Of Life - Another great song. I don't have much to add that hasn't already been said.

High - I like this song, but for me it's the low point of the album. That's not a bad thing though, it's still a solid 7/10. I completely agree with the comments on this fitting in perfectly on Claire's solo album.

The Slightest Touch - What a song to finish on!! I can't believe I wasn't sold on this from the start, what was I thinking?? It's Steps perfection!!

FINAL THOUGHTS

If you'd told me 18 months ago that Steps would release 2 albums in the space of 10 months I'd have anticipated the quality of the second album to be significantly less. It's such a testament to them that they're able to deliver such a strong album so soon after Part 1. This doesn't have as many low points for me as Part 1 so I'd say it's my preferred choice at this stage. Both solid albums and great additions to the Steps catalogue though.

Thanks for hosting Jay!

Thanks so much PAJ, really interesting to read through! Totally agree with you about High, even if it is my least favourite, it is at least still a good song! I'm also glad I steered clear of the originals, because it makes this entire album feel like Steps originals to me  Since their 2017 comeback I've been lucky in not knowing originals - the only song I knew beforehand was Dancing with a Broken Heart, though to be fair I still liked Steps' version despite being familiar with Delta's.

Nice to see another living in a lie fan, its just great although i still prefer the slightest touch. A hundred years of winter i probably need to invest more time in as its just not clicking with me but maybe that will change, definitely not what would pick for a single but other fans seem to really like and see alot more potential in it than i do.

Sadly it's worse than that - midweek #15. With a current projection of ending up as low as #22 on Friday.

Now admittedly a fall like this isn't anywhere near as bad as some other artists suffer, but still, it'll be a shame if this only spends 1 week in the Top 20. It'll be touch and go as to whether Steps sell 3k this week.

The seriously frustrating thing about today's midweeks is that the midweek #1 has sold less than 5k. In last Monday's midweeks, Steps had sold 16k. This week's #1 possibly won't sell 12k over the entire week. If only Steps had scheduled their album this week, they would have breezed it to #1. Just typical!

That is really annoying, like who is in charge of their release weeks, it's not that hard to figure out when to release an album.

:( As soon as they saw they were up against Manic Street Preachers again, they should have moved

It's so annoying as steps will have sold more last week than this weeks top 2 combined, its frustrating they are missing number 1s due to releasing the wrong week. If they reased a week earlier they would gave also beaten kanye west to number 1.

I really hope they can claw their way back into the top 20 by the end of the week.

Thanks for the update!

What to say about that #1 in another week..

Hope it will stay in the charts for a few week and will get to silver status!

Guys just a head’s-up, I’ve come down with heatstroke during work, and got Stepped home. 😂🤣🤒

If I say anything incoherent, send JD & Steps playlists!

😜

Although it is incredibly frustrating they missed out on #1 they likely wouldn't have sold 25k if they released this week or next week. I for instance wouldn't have bought as many copies in that bid to try and help them. Sales are the most important thing and since they are dropping off a cliff this week with 3k or less it's important they got as many sales first week as they could!
