Drake now up to having 21 of the top 23 on Apple, only 'Bad Habits' at #14 and 'STAY' at #19 blocking him.

Apparently it broke the one day Spotify streaming record. No wonder though, as people have received several emails and notifications saying it's out so the amount of curiousity streams is huge. I don't know anyone who has actually loved the album

Edited by Sour Candy

on Apple he has now the entire top 19, and 21 songs in the top 22 (only Bad Habits survives at 20)

on the other hand, Alexa does not like Drake as much :o only 3 tracks from Certified Boy Lover in the top 100 with the highest at #79

on Amazon both ABBA tracks are top 40

Is that worldwide? US? UK? maybe I'm Too Sexy can finally be #1 in the UK after the original peaked at #2

but agree, the number of curiosity streams has to be gigantic

Thank god for ACR with these big 20+ track album drops.

other newbies on Apple

ABBA are #37 & #39

L Mix at #62

Charli XCX - Good Ones at #84

Thats actually amazing for Charli cos she has like 20 Drake and 14 Kanye West tracks above, so in reality she's about #50 on Apple

seems like JLS are not repeating the success of that non-JLS track :D

Yup. This looks like a disaster for them so far.

It makes you wonder what the album sales will be like, if they do 25k+ I think it'll be a success for them.

Their tour dates sold out almost instantly, so that'll be the main source of income for their reunion anyway.

You always say that

But the promoters are the ones making the big money from tours

Then the labels then the artists

That’s super impressive that ABBA would be top 20 with both on Apple Music without the Drake album drop.

Oops at JLS, I guess there had to be one high profile casualty of this extremely busy week. Was there a massive appetite for them to release new music? They very much faded out at the time, it feels like their split was forced due to diminishing returns so perhaps there’s little appetite for more from them.

The only comeback acts that seem to do really well with new material are those like Take That who went out before people were ready for them to, so it feels like there’s unfinished business upon their return. I guess you could say ABBA faded out too but they were way bigger to start with and have had about three different generations of cultural Renaissance’s since.

With 'Comeback' acts there needs to be pretty heavy promo before releasing material.

At the moment there's hardly anything with decent viewing figures to actively promote the comeback..

Obviously, this wouldn't give them massive streaming numbers but it would at least create some sort of hype behind it.

The gaping whole of TOTP staring right at us in the BBC schedule.

It really needs reviving or an updated version of it. Especially as with covid people would probably be more open to the performances being stripped down with no audience, or I'm front of an audience in another country.

With the increasing homogenisation of music you'd think NBC, BBC and EBC would get together on this sort of project.

They tried it a few years ago with Sounds Like Friday Night and unfortunately it didn't do very well at all, so I'm not sure there's much interest for something like that these days.
