Oh? So quickly! I assumed by the artwork this would be an expansion of the previous album. Nice new track to start with though.
Oh wow this is quite the surprise! I knew a follow-up thing was in the works, but I didn't expect it to be a full album! The week they're releasing currently looks clear for them to get their fourth #1 which is good.
Wow this seems very quick and as Lewis remarked the art work looks like a follow up to the last era. Seems a bit of a short campaign too 😳

It is a follow up to the last era! They've described it as a "sister album".

so it's a folklore/evermore scenario it seems

They've never particular been ones for waiting between albums anyway, especially in the early years when they weren't such big names.

I'd imagine not having to do a massive tour between albums has probably helped in getting this out so fast, allowing them to go onto it more quickly.

added to R1's B-list!!! Amazing they still got so much support from them

'Denier', 'Witch's Cup' and 'Holy Water' are pretty cool songs.

I don't get why 'A Hunger In Your Haunt' was a single. I know it's kinda single-y but it's... not great. Even 'Unknown Male 01' would make a better leading single if it has a shorter edit.

'Slurpy Sleep' was also kinda preachy and dumb lyrically, almost like a Part 2 or a response track to AHIYH in terms of its self-analysis themes.

‘A Hunger In Your Haunt’ has taken a while but it’s hit me at last, great classic Biffy tune!!

I'm liking this album more than their last one - 'Separate Missions' in particular is brilliant (have read that it was heavily influenced by The Cure and I can definitely see it, loving the discordant synth intro as well) and 'Slurpy Slurpy Sleep Sleep' is a little ridiculous but it is a banger, much like the last album saving the most bonkers song for last. 'Existed' is lovely as a more lowkey moment too and also enjoying 'Denier', 'Witch's Cup' + all of the singles, especially 'A Hunger In Your Haunt'. ('Errors In The History Of God' didn't click with me that much on first listen but I liked it a lot more listening to it as part of the album!)

A bit of a shame that a busy release week saw this ending their streak of top 3 albums, even with a (somewhat expected) big drop from their last album they sold enough to have been top 3 on almost every other week this year, #2 in most weeks and even #1 in a handful. Nevermind, at least they keep up a top 5 streak!

‘Separate Missions’ is wonderful though the synths at the beginning are a little grating!
