Looking closer at the Monday midweek numbers for Iron Maiden and Drake - they are both down a fair amount from the Monday updates of their previous albums (Iron Maiden did 45.5k and Drake 30.5k). The drop for Drake seems quite dramatic considering he presumably does have a higher number from streaming at least so far - suggests that his pure sales are down maybe 10k from those of 'Scorpion' at this stage (and 'Scorpion' only did 14k total in pure sales that week...!) I did expect his pure sales to be lower but not by that much :drama:

 

I suppose 'Scorpion' had the benefit of pre-orders but I'm shocked it's amounted to that enormous of a difference! (edit: have enquired to Joseph and he's confirmed that that it really is a case of the pure sales being nearly 10k lower this time, or around an 85% drop - his streaming number is slightly up on 'Scorpion' but only by a few hundred, I am sure it'll end up lower by the end of the week at this rate)

Does anyone know what the longest consecutive run for an artist at #1 is, because if Shivers can hold up then surely Ed must have at least a decent chance of beating it?

 

Bryan Adam's in 1991 - 16 consecutive week. Cant see any examples of artists replacing themselves at no.1 (which is fairly rare) to make 17+ weeks.

Genuinely surprised Maiden are down around 15k on their last album, once streaming's factored out presumably even more as far as physical sales go. It's been 6 years I know but they're still one of the biggest metal bands in UK history and have a lot of devoted younger fans who'll surely he inclined to pick up the vinyl/CD.

 

Honestly wouldn't be overly suprised if this is the last album we get from them as well so would have thought that would increase inteest - if they wait another 6 years Bruce would be knocking on 70 and his voice will surely start showing some wear by then.

Certainly might be a stretch but it's at least within the realms of possibility, which is what makes this so exciting to me. It's not an absolute given, but there's a chance. I'm sure Ed and his team are actively going for the record, so they'll presumably have some tricks up their sleeves to keep Shivers at #1. If it even debuts at #1 to begin with, of course, but with the entire Top 3 going on ACR and Drake dropping off fast that seems likely at least.

This might be a hard/overly specific thing to look up but I wonder if there's ever been a week before where an artist was #1 in the singles midweeks but not the albums, but then by the end of the week had gained the #1 album while losing the #1 single. Seems very realistic Drake might do that this week.

Tricky to compare as we don’t have numbers for last Monday but I’m thinking Bad Habits can’t be down by a lot - could it be a heatwave away from avoiding ACR? :lol:

Thats crazy, never anything like this, I'm a Drake-hater but someone doing 1,1 million vs someone doing 500K and being even doesn't add up... it's not 100K away, it's 600K away...
