:cheer: Let us know what you think Wardy!

I have finally got the iMac cooperating so I’m now listening to it on shuffle while I work

So Don-E also produced This Is What You Need and is doing the vocoder bits on the track, weirdly enough he isn't credited

What's interesting is Toby Baker isn't credited either on Always Be The One but Ron Tom is.

Interesting!! Will be curious to see what’s on the album liner notes, if it ever arrives

I've ordered this - and the cheap compilation! - they should arrive later today! So I'll save listening until they do but looking forward to it!

I may have to resequence the compilation on iTunes to make it listenable before I do so.

iTunes:

#5 Norway

#8 United Kingdom

#11 Denmark

#21 Australia

#59 Germany

#72 Bulgaria

Edit: oops, wrong thread :kink:

Just listened to the album from start to finish. Obsessed doesn't cover it. It may be over 20 years old, but the addition of the new/alternative mixes on top of the unreleased material are just so refreshing. A perfect release for such a special album.

Cannot wait to hear the Amazon exclusives!

Apologies for the delayed reply! -_-

Well for me, it was a very nostalgic trip back to a time when pop music was simple, elegant and when vocals harmonised well. I have to admit, I would never class myself as a huge Sugababes fan, I’ve never seen them live, and I have only ever streamed their music, other than collecting their singles as part of the Now That’s What I Call Music series. But I have heard the album One Touch a long time ago in the past, and I did still recognise album tracks that weren’t released as singles. The album felt great to listen to in its remastered state, together with all the extra bits, demos and remixes. The whole package is just great! I listened the way through yesterday morning, over 2 hours of music, and I enjoyed the whole thing, and it sent me to a place of immersive contentment as I relived that experience again as if it was for the first time. ^_^

I know I’m not naming specific tracks here, I just don’t know what ones to elevate over others, each has its place, and the original singles all sound great, in fact I think I’m falling in love again with Soul Sound after not hearing it in so long!

This has been a great experience to share with you all! :D

This was lovely to read. And your point about every track having a place on the album is so right. It just works so well.

Oh thanks rowork! I noticed you are one of the most active members of this artist forum, thank you for all your hard work making it a safe place to visit! I will try and post more in the Sugababes forum in future. ^_^

Aw, so kind! I love this forum - such a friendly bunch. Hope to see you here more often!

Here's my review of the demos and remixes

1.Sometimes: I'm very glad that they included this on the re-issue, I really love the reggae instrumental along with the vocal arrangements.

2.This Is What You Need: A straight up bop!!! from the time I heard the snippet I knew this would be my favorite out of the demos and honestly this has become one of my favorite Sugababes tracks in general, really reminiscent of something from the early 80s electro-funk ala Zapp/Roger Troutman. I could totally see this being a B-Side back in the day had it been on their single releases.

3.Girls' Nite Out: I really love the instrumental it is so late 90s and the lyrics are so pure and innocent. I can't lie the somewhat muffled talking bits cracked me up especially the parts about Keisha and the "Sisqo wannabe".

4.Always Be The One: I had a gut feeling by the title that this was the song that Keisha had shared on her Snapchat a few years ago. I will say I love all three of the girls's vocals on the track but the song is very middle of the road and reminds of me something Mariah probably would've recorded.

5.The Other Side: This may be my 2nd favorite out of all the demos!! This honestly should've made the final tracklisting and could've easily fit between Promises and Run For Cover. TBH it could've been easily a solo track for Siobhan on Revolution In Me.

6.All Around The World: A bop!!! the chorus gives off vibes of Kool & The Gang along with Earth, Wind & Fire. The disco/house instrumental is something I never expected 1.0 to record a song like this. Hopefully Heidi's version will surface one day.

7.Run For Cover (MNEK Remix): Such a great remix even though I haven't replayed it as much and MNEK's verse really fits with the song.

8.Overload (Majestic Remix): Out of the 2 new Overload mixes, this is honestly my favorite one it has such a nostalgic feeling and could've honestly fit onto the original Overload Single CD IMO.

9.Same Old Story (Blood Orange Remix): I have such mixed feelings regarding this mix, I do like the fact that an album track had been chosen as a new remix but after the nice piano intro it just feels very bland and hollow.

10.Overload (Metronomy vs. TATYANA Remix): Yeah I didn't care much for this remix, the pre-chorus just ruins it for me.

11.Just Let It Go (2001 Version): I was so surprised to find out that this track was going to a potential single and this version goes hard I love the additional vocals and the new drums but I do wish that the flamenco strings were kept in.

12.Soul Sound (Alternative Mix): This alternative mix is just... wow I never expected this mix to be totally different from the finalized version of the song and it definitely should have been added to the Soul Sound single back in the day. When the girls get the chance to tour I would love for them to perform this version.

13.Real Thing (2-Step Radio Mix): I wonder if this track was lined up to be a single at one point as well, I've become such a fan of UK Garage/2-Step in the past year and I really enjoyed this mix.
