Their best chance would have been against Lana and Biffy

Sam Fender would not have been an issue lol and with the exception of Ed, ABBA and Coldplay they could've easily fended off any of those acts for a #1 album.

I think they should've released the week or the second week after Lil Nas, it's been relatively quiet for ages.

I’d rather they stuck with November release dates.

If they miss out on #1’s fair enough it’s not like the albums don’t sell well.

You're underestimating Sam. His debut opened with 40k and this album has a lot more hype surrounding it. Likely heading for a 60k debut.

Lana is always underestimated & tbh I'm not sure about Biffy I just assumed they are still strong 1st week album sellers (as well as 2nd week Coldplay, which I believe LM would out do anyway) so if they were to bring it forward that would have been the ideal date but I wouldn't have thought they were a shoe-in for #1, personally.

But Nov will have stronger sales whether they opened at 1, 4 or 14 etc..

Coldplay with the biggest opening week sales this year of over 100,000 has been pushed down to #5 in the midweek update. They might rise before the week ends, but definitely not going top 3 in week 2.

As much as we all feel threatened by ABBA, I still think their first week will be massive, but that will be it, relatively. Most of the preorders that crashed their site would have been moved/shipped by end of week 1. Week 2 is mainly for artists with streaming power, and I'm not sure they're quite there. I'm not sure how well Disco will do either. I'm more bothered about Rod Stewart and Taylor Swift, and maybe Ed Sheeran cos his streaming pull would sustain him for many weeks after week 1. I think these 3 and little mix will be top 4. Who will be where in that top 4 is what I can't really tell yet. I suppose later details will shed more light.

Don't let Coldplay's wk 2 drop, lower your expectations for ABBA tbh. ABBA's album has WAY more hype and they're like catnip to the generation who do their Christmas shopping in early Nov. Their casual sales are gonna be really strong for the remainding Q4 period. I'll be surprised if they're lower than 2 in the 2nd week tbh.

At this stage as long as LM get top 5 with 40k+ sales, it's a success! I'm confident it's gonna hold up incredibly well due to the greatest hits aspect of it.

It all feels very under the radar at the moment.

agree, I keep saying people saying that in Nov "X artists are releasing" but Little Mix is rarely mentioned - I wonder why they aren't at least pushing all of the formats/restocks/variants they have ready to go etc

I get the whole Jesy/Nicki issue probs caused a few issues but.. come on, no second single until a WEEK prior?

It will go T5 but their new single hasn’t exactly done well and this could also underperform. Greatest hits tend to be quite redundant in the streaming age.
It will debut well enough due to pre orders from the insane volume of formats. I think it will hang around. Boosted by a January single and again by the tour. Probably fair better than Confetti and likely will reappear every now and then.

I think we’re looking at poor sales tbh.

25/30k? Changed from 35-40k but I hope I’m wrong!

Apparently Ed Sheeran has done just about 85000 by today's midweek update. I expect his total by Friday will struggle to go beyond 200,000. Will be interesting to see how this all pans out.

I’m thinking with all the formats and some restored hype...

4 with 34k

1) Taylor

2) ABBA

3) Ed

4) Little Mix

5) Rod (but close)

#4 with 40k-45k, I see Rod unfortunately beating them but I think their sales will be decent for a GH with a flop lead.

it's still gonna be #4 but i think 30k - 40k now (more so 30k - 35k)
