Melanie C has enjoyed success across Europe when the UK weren’t as fussed about her. Carolyna and TMYB doing so well proves that.

I think people need to remember that in the long run a hit collection is meant to be a showcase of an artists catalogue that the general public might be interested in (which, let's face it, usually are their hits) and meant to sell in the long run. I don't think any of their solo collection would set the charts on fire, but I could certainly see Geri's, Mel C's and Emma's at least selling minor amounts as long as they're being kept in print. Mel C's would probably be her best selling album since Beautiful Intentions at the very least. A good baseline of success for it would be to look at Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Song from the K-tchen Disco - it's not sold huge amounts but seems to be a recurring presence, especially whenever she promotes anything now.

Defo agree, they are the types of albums that would sell over long periods and would need to stay in print, I think mel c would have the potential to go silver with a best of.

Ha I wouldn’t have confidence in her being able to sell 60k at all, not to be shady but that is not the easiest thing to achieve for a considerable number of artists, when streaming isn’t at a strong enough level. With a GH she’d still experience a front loaded physical week. It would be decent for her if she did 30k+ tbh.

Shady bitch B-)

I do agree with you though. Perhaps 10 years ago with it still in print she might have done it but with the low sales climate today anything over 20k would be great

Compilations do better than studio albums on streaming though, since they tend to include more popular tracks. It's the reason why Greatest Hits does better than Spice.

I don’t think the 5 of them combined would sell 60k with solo greatest hits collections.

Oh they would easily both My happy place and Melanie C have sold nearly 15k each and I'm sure a GH would sell better than a studio album as more general public interest would be there (not much but a little).

Hmmm maybe I need to have a bit more faith (and let love lead the way!)

Exactly! With physical sales being low I don't see it happening, but I could see it outselling Beautiful Intentions (29k) and having small trickle sales any time Mel C promotes something.

As someone said... ten years ago I could've seen it going Silver at one point.

When i said silver as in 60k for a mel c greatest hits i meant over a long period, i know she wouldnt sell that in its initial release and chart run but i would think its an album that would continue to pick up small sales here and there over a long period.

Melanie C's one would need the tracklist not being in chronological order as the tracklist Spiceboy posted was so top heavy I couldn't imagine any casual fan making it to half way through. Gotta mix it up save some of the bigger songs for later get people streaming the whole thing not just the 1st 6 songs.

Emma's I'd release before Christmas and put the Xmas songs on it too. It might cost her a higher chart place but could get her higher sales.

Mel C Greatest Hits I would welcome the most.

That said, they could all achieve a Top 20 placement with a Greatest Hits release.
