The streaming total is not really that relevant to its first week sales, because the first week total is going to be (unless this really has just gone disastrously wrong for him and his pure sales collapse hard) mostly pure sales. His streaming units will be a bit lower than expected but still much higher than most #1 albums, and besides even the absolute streaming behemoth of '÷' did "only" 79k in streaming in its first week, its huge opening was because he was a huge seller physically as well as dominating streaming. Obviously it's very unlikely just from the sheer contraction of the market that he'd come anywhere close to the physical sales '÷' did in its first week but I would still expect it'll do better in pure sales than 'No.6 Collaborations Project' did even though his streaming numbers have continued to drop.

Reading some of the comments you would think the album had been streamed 10 times in total.

In relation to the market he’s going to have a massive first week with huge longevity with this album.

It won't touch even Olivia Rodrigo's streams let alone his own personal best.

I didn’t say it would - most artists 10 years into their career struggle to match their personal bests especially with the heights Ed has reached previously and in a now declining overall album market. To compare him to Olivia is odd too - it was her debut album with a fanbase that by her physical/streaming split are heavy streamers.

It will still be a huge album and have longevity despite the continued BJ bitterness.

Didn't SOUR do 34k streaming sales first week? It really isn't hard to envision = coming close to that, and = will absolutely blow SOUR out of the water in pure sales.

really thought Ed would do 100K minimum on streaming alone, so for me this is the biggest shock of the year

no matter how well he does on pure sales

You thought he would do a minimum of 21k more than he did with '÷' (and like twice as much as the record for any non-Sheeran artist)...? :P

100k on streams alone based on what? Divide "only" did 78,944 streaming sales in week 1, and it's been obvious that Ed's numbers for the singles haven't been as strong as the Divide era so far. I do think he's underperforming based on my expectations but you've set a pretty unrealistic expectation there, he was never going to get 100k on streams alone...!

Bjork always has unrealistic expectations for Ed Sheeran because he doesn’t like him it means he can call him a flop and say this is ‘the shock of the year’!
My real prediction is 120k

The way you were right lmfaoo

I really thought he'd open with 250-300k. I guess you can shove your singles down people's throats on playlists and radio all you want, but you can't force them to buy the full album. :drake:
Only a girl group like Abba would get those sort of sales!

Even ABBA won't be doing 250,000

Even ABBA won't be doing 250,000

They have preorders of in excess of 125k so realistically they could sell 250k in the first week.

Glad I voted 120,000-150,000.

He's a huge flop :cheer:

I was talking about Year End chart, and it requires some work for Ed to reach the 380k-ish Olivia will do by the end of year.
