Why would a UK act release a single on a Thursday evening rather than midnight? Is it because there's more of a buzz to releasing it then that is worth a few lost streams/downloads?

 

It'd get slightly more eyes on it being released in its own 'timeslot' than dumped at the same time as a bunch of other new releases I guess. I think the distinction between midweek releases and 'normal' releases is nearly nonexistent these days, it would only ever affect songs that were never going to be hits anyway, since most hits don't peak in their first week now.

I wouldn't expect it to have a particularly huge first week based on the recent form of both artists.

Well not really. I'm just saying it's probably not going to debut super high, that doesn't mean it can't be a hit later.

 

Summer Walker's album is doing extremely well on Apple, top three songs are at #11, #16 and #25 and most of the album is in the top 100. (IIRC she usually does better on Apple than Spotify though). ABBA doing pretty decently too with 5 songs in the top 100.

 

Summer Walker completely drowning everything out on US Apple Music as she has the entire top 6 and 17 of the top 20 (with the two new Travis Scott songs starting off at #21 and #27 behind all but a couple of tracks from her album). What an extremely ordinary and boring artist to become such a huge streaming draw. I guess it can't be a lot worse than Drake's last album to be fair :lol:

I was thinking about this today, most hits don’t peak first week but only one number one this year has rose from outside the top 5. Maybe it’s just a fluke of this year having a lot of huge first week hits/names?

Meanwhile in the US Adele has now fallen from #1 to #23 on Apple behind all 20 Summer Walker tracks and the two Travis tracks (at 15 & 21). Lol.

ArrDee now up to #7 on Apple, even doing very well on Amazon, #38 now

 

on Amazon, all ABBA album tracks are top 200, with 5 of them in the top 100 (but low between 51-100)

Her previous album reached #7 (and is certified gold) and did great in streams, so not surprised. She is the female Drake on US AM too.

 

I really hope No Love can go top 20 in the UK too, it's astounding.
