Yeh Apple have a whole list of artists doing their own Xmas songs like Amazon do. Wolf Alice did a really nice version of ‘In The Bleak Mid Winter’!

So yeah it definitely looks like the rise for 'White Christmas' yesterday was either a glitch or someone botting it worldwide on Friday for some inexplicable reason. I figured it probably wasn't anything legitimate because it surely would have shown up on Apple Music too if so.

 

It has fallen 87 places to #115 on the global chart on a day when all the other Christmas songs are heavily climbing :lol: (it was #136 on the global chart on the equivalent Saturday of last year so that seems much more believable).

 

edit: I am seeing on Twitter now that there are people complaining that they tried to play 'A Holly Jolly Christmas' by Burl Ives and it played 'White Christmas' instead - on today's US Spotify chart Bing has fallen 1-23 and Burl is a re-entry at #25, and they would be very close to #1 with their numbers combined so this may have something to do with it. (The day before had Burl at #37 and Bing at #58). Would also explain why the effect was bigger in the US than anywhere else as the Burl Ives song isn't particularly big outside the US, at least not that version.

Amazon this morning: #1 Easy On Me, then all of 2-15 are on ACR and with 3 predictable exceptions are Christmas songs. I Drink Wine is the 2nd highest SCR song at #16.
