October 12, 20213 yr Author As we approach the 22nd anniversary of this album, it felt like high time it had its own topic! Steptacular was hugely successful, entering at #1 in the UK and spending four weeks on top of the charts. Its first week sales of over 111,000 copies grew to a total of almost 1,300,000 as of 2017. The album is notable for being Steps' only studio album to top the chart. It includes the #1 single Tragedy (which was released during the debut album era), while every other single taken from Steptacular made the Top 5. A huge era that really solidified Steps as one of the biggest pop acts at the term of the millennium. ~~~~~~ I was 11 years old at the time of this album's release. I remember I so excited for it, to the extent that I asked my parents if they could let me have it before Christmas... because I didn't think I could wait weeks for it! So my mum bought the CD for me, and it ended up being the version with the Steps logo in a foil/shiny material, which I was happy about! I played this album so much, I was very obsessed. I'm sure this is not typical for most fans, but one of my major faves on this album was Make It Easy on Me! I played that one over and over. I'm sure Lisa would be happy about that! I think it's interesting how well this album performed, considering that it came two weeks after the release of After the Love Has Gone - which wasn't exactly huge for them in comparison to their previous singles. Though that single must have done its job to enable the album to be a #1 with huge first week sales? I suppose the fact that Steptacular includes Tragedy was a big selling point too? I'm glad this was a #1 because it provided them with a 90s #1 album, and as I mentioned earlier, their only studio #1 album to date.
October 12, 20213 yr It's a great album but I always preferred step one byt that's not to take away from steptacular as it's a great album that was hugely successful. It's my least fave album cover from them though.
October 17, 20213 yr -I remember being very excited with the release and grabbed a copy as soon the album was out. -It’s not my favorite studio album overall. Some of the album tracks are a bit ‘meh’. Some great single releases though, especially DSOB  -I also remember being annoyed at the fact they got really big in the UK but lost steam everywhere else. Too much focus in breaking the States? Edited October 17, 20213 yr by GLOBALFUNQ 👣
