I will get this done tonight or tomorrow

This would have been such a better plan for the album than what they ended up with. Like if they insisted on Girls for the ad cash in then they should have made it a double A-side and pushed Every Heart Broken. I know they don’t usually start the island eras with anything other than uptempo, but EHB was probably the best selling point for the album I think. It was representative of the sound and lyrical direction as well as punching enough of the Sugababes attitude.

Plus I think it could’ve had a killer music video.

With the chorus and that taking place in a court room with the girls on the stand for murder. Obviously acquitted at the end

Video would’ve been one of the best of the 3.0 era.

3.0's best work, although 'Girls' really did mark their downfall and I find it almost unlistenable, nothing else screams lead single, which was lacking for this album compared to the run from Overload - About You Now. I suppose 'Every Heart Broken' could've been a lead moment, but the production on the studio version is still such a let down compared to the live version they were doing in the lead up to the album's release. 'Can We Call A Truce' is such a swansong moment, all 3 deliver some of their best vocals on it. The ballads really shine on this album, so it's a shame that we only got 2 uptempo singles from it.

Listening to the album straight through, no skips (even partial) to make this ranking:

08.0 \\ Girls \\ No shame, i actually quite like it but there is a better version

09.5 \\ You On A Good Day \\ I really enjoy this track! I never skip it when it comes on shuffle and I have a wee bop. The middle 8 for this is faaaaab. I love the "i hate it i want it i need it" chant

05.5 \\ No Can Do \\ The vocals on this are pretty fire but the track is a little plodding. Like it could do with a light kick upwards in the BPM. Add a little bit of a beat to it and I think that would dramatically improve the song. Like I reckon played at x1.1 speed this would be so much better.

07.5 \\ Hanging On A Star \\ I have always enjoyed this more poppy number. I do wonder what this song could have been at the hands of Xenomania tho.

10.0 \\ Side Chick \\ This is probably the most 2.0 track that 3.0 did (that wasn't a re-recording of a 2.0 track). It fits in with C&S but with some different production and some Mutya magic it could be on Angels or Three quite easily. Especially love Amelles verse on this one and the way she says ridiculous.

07.5 \\ Unbreakable Heart \\ It has some cute moments for sure, but there's better ballads on the album.

10.0 \\ Sunday Rain \\ Talking of better ballads. This is a towering masterpiece. A proper big band power ballad and I absolutely adore Sunday Rain so much.

11.0 \\ Every Heart Broken \\ Almost my 3.0 highlight (That is Now You're Gone for me, so they started off at like a full on 13 and it was only downhill from there), this is such an incredible track. I love the vocals, the lyrics, the melody, everything. Should have been the lead single. I renamed this back to its original title on my iTunes when it first came out and still prefer it as "Murder One" tbh

10.0 \\ Beware \\ In a lawless scenario this would also be an 11 for me. It is fabulous. The high drama of it all. This trio of songs is just flawless.

08.5 \\ Nothing's As Good As You \\ Suffers a little coming between two songs that are magnitudes better than it. It is a lovely track, and I love Keisha's very soulful middle 8.

10.0 \\ Sound Of Goodbye \\ Mega. Made me cry ugly tears on that tragic horrific day that was Keisha-gate so it took me a couple of years to be able to listen to it again without the baggage. It is a really really lovely ballad. The vocal layering, in the second verse in particular, is stunning - reminds me a little of Caught In A Moment

03.0 \\ Can We Call A Truce \\ I don't understand the outpouring of fan adoration for this one. It's garbage. The vocals on the verse are pure mince. Like wtf is wrong with Heidi?? Its long, and slow and boring. One of the few Sugababes (1.0-3.0) tracks that is a near guaranteed skip for me.

---

09.5 \\ Girls (Klas Alhund Re-worked) \\ Now this is MUCH better. I for some reason fell like this is the version that the girls and the producer wanted but the version we ended up with is the charity advert cash in one at the request of the label. This is what should have been released. Actually shows it better as a sample rather than a cover because it actually has more personality and uniqueness in the verses.

13 so far, not bad at all! Will close Monday next week :D
Is it too late to adjust my scores? Been listening to the album a lot this past week and I've become a lot more familiar with a lot of the songs.

Go for it

One of the best of any era!!! Would have been mega

You could just imagine each of the Babaes playing out the murders in the video. Would've been iconic. Oh well.
