Posted November 18, 20213 yr This has just gone up on WOWPresents and will continue at 11pm UK time every Thursday, there is only 6 episodes but it is understood this is a pilot season kind of thing to see how it goes and if S2 is worth doing it will be bigger! This week's premiere is an "Italian style" design challenge.
November 19, 20213 yr Author I'm unsure on that first episode, it was a bit messy. They seemed to spend half the episode on everyone's traumas in the workroom and then you saw about 2 seconds of each queen's runway? The critiques seem to go on forever but not say a lot, and the standard of the design challenge was pretty low, I actually thought Divinity should have been in the top with Farida. Yes there wasn't a huge amount to the outfit, but people have done well with much less before, it was kind of giving me Aquaria, Gottmik or Saggitaria doing a Christmas design challenge and just walking the runway as a bow. That felt like an inconsequential pilot episode given the random ass double shantay, I like the idea but it was so clunky to have her walk off stage in tears and THEN bring her back  Maybe they're just finding their feet but I didn't warm to judges the either, the cast is solid and seems to have a decent variety so we'll see how it goes. It doesn't feel like a total write-off but idk that it knows what its going for, for a show with a clear source material to draw from, it feels a bit off.
November 22, 20213 yr Can we talk about horrendous runway lighting? I can barely see anything. Also I love Italian drag race bringing major untucked drama in the very first episode :’)
November 22, 20213 yr I enjoyed this! Farida for the win - she seems like a star! Not sure about the double shantay when there's only six episodes anyway. Laquisha was pretty naff and wouldn't have been a miss. I also thought Ivana Vamp being high was a literal joke but I kinda like her anyway so oh well.
November 22, 20213 yr The whole thing with not even having bottom 3 in each category is super weird. They announce two lip syncers right away. Where's the tension?? You would've had two people in Untucked, that's enough. Unless you confuse the best with the worst, I don't think it's difficult to assume who's lip syncing.
November 22, 20213 yr Erm that was not a good first episode. I was really excited about this as Italy is my favourite country but it wasn’t great, I’m hopeful it will improve though !
November 25, 20213 yr Well. Drag Race Italia is very weird. It feels like it was made in the 90s! I'm not sure I'll watch the whole way through. It's a bit longwinded and I don't understand Italian at all so that's not ideal, unlike the Spanish version.
November 26, 20213 yr Author An hour and a half long :') God that felt like a chore, I'm lucky that I understand enough Italian that I can watch it and do something else, but there was no need for the episode to be that long. And to give everyone critiques, just making the episode even longer, and then not even have anyone in the top with Enorma was weird too. This just feels really really off, from the judging, to the challenge, to the cast even, but it's the editing mostly for me. There was too much going on, it needs editing down but it's also just messy editing. Like what was that random juxtaposition of Luquisha's panic attack while they gave Enorma winning critiques? They seem to have no idea what they're doing whilst simultaneously knowing exactly what they want from the queens to a really specific and stifling degree.
December 3, 20213 yr Author This is the messiest season ever lmfao I want whatever the producers are on  I completely feel for Ava tonight, the views of drag this panel has are very very narrow minded. It wasn't a good look but there's a way to critique it that isn't... that. To me it comes across that they aren't open minded and can't articulate their comments in a way that isn't tearing the queens down. Perhaps it is the culture/language but it feels that way to me. There's just so many things wrong with nearly every aspect of this show that makes it hard for me to want to continue.
December 8, 20213 yr i’m SO confused by this episode!!! I skipped to the middle and Enorma was being eliminated but now it’s skipped forward to a runway??? Ahhh I’ve caught up and understand it slightly more now
December 9, 20213 yr Author I just don't get how, when the behaviour was something was that bad they didn't even show it all, how was Enorma allowed to carry on until the next week but then get disqualified by a lipsync? Also Ava was in the bottom last week, if they wanted to disqualify her, they could have just not had ANOTHER double shantay?? I am assuming it was a physical fight maybe which they didn't show but if it was that bad, I'm baffled as to how "lipsync and you might be able to stay, oh well xx" is fine lmao, but either way they knew it went on last week so why wait until now?? I just can't get into this series because everything going on around the competition seems to be overtaking the actual competition. They spent all that time on a disqualification they could have just done immediately last week, then the runways were about 2 seconds long and felt really rushed.
December 9, 20213 yr I've been watching this and can't shake the feeling that Enorma was a producers mole to shake up the season and make good TV. From the get-go she's been instigating fights on Untucked and being the villain at all costs. Also, this season has had all the twists in the book and more for such a short season. A save after elimination, a double shantay, a disqualification... I can't help but think they just want this season to have as much of an impact as possible, hence all the twists and shocks and an overly exaggerated villan. Yet again they are Italian, so maybe it's how it's really went down.
December 9, 20213 yr Author I'm such a track record gay and this season is TESTING me but I kinda want Elecktra to go SAFE-SAFE-SAFE-SAFE-SAFE-WINNER  Part of me expects a double crowning or some "everyone wins!!!" shit, it will not be straight forward anyway.

Very true, and the fact it comes out of nowhere too! That might be bad editing like most of the show, but it is just bizarre.
December 23, 20213 yr SAFE-SAFE-SAFE-SAFE-HIGH-WINNER lmao Queen! I liked her so I'm happy. Not watched the episode yet but she must have had a bloody good episode because Farida seemed like the only reasonable choice for winner since episode 1? I thought she'd walk it!
December 24, 20213 yr Author I'm baffled because like... she didn't really kill the finale to that degree? But I'm happy too, she was my winner! Plus she could easily have had wins in Snatch Game and the commercial, her winning is getting an awful reception but people are way overegging it imo, acting like she bombed the whole season when really along with Farida, she didn't have a single challenge where she did badly. Farida left me a bit cold tbh, not even in a "too professional" Ella or Rosé way, just in a way that I found Elecktra more likeable and rootable. Elecktra kinda felt like she had a better edit too without having a win, which was odd.
December 24, 20213 yr After watching the episode, I must admit it was an odd choice for the crowning although I'm quite happy with the choice. Farida smashed the episode really. Her verse was the most exciting, her finale runway with the golden birds was breathtaking (but we're used to that from her now) and her lipsync seemed the most emotional too. Elecktra's feather runway was stun too & she did well in the reading challenge but I'm not sure how they even justified between themselves crowning her instead, lol. She seemed really humbled by the win though and her speech was quite touching compared to the usual 'I'm the best' schtick.
January 3, 20223 yr Not the best version of the franchise but this post from Ava gave it a new perspective for me  View this post on Instagram
