10th December voting open for a few more hours -

Quarter-final 1 -

1981 - Human League - Don't You Want Me

2002 - Girls Aloud - Sound Of The Underground

The Human League had more straight votes and a higher percentage in Round 2, though Girls Aloud were ahead of them on both measures in Round 1. Girls Aloud are currently ahead in this quarter-final as I write this, but there are a few more hours left to vote, so it could conceivably change.

10th December results

Quarter-final 1 - 815 votes cast

1981 - Human League - Don't You Want Me - 40.4% (329 votes)

2002 - Girls Aloud - Sound Of The Underground - 59.6% (486 votes)

11th December results

Quarter-final 2 - 507 votes cast

1975/1991 - Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody - 59.6% (302 votes)

2006 - Leona Lewis - A Moment Like This - 40.4% (205 votes)

So only Girls Aloud gained straight votes compared to Round 2, and in fact have been gaining every round, whilst Human League lost votes from Round 2, though still have a few more than Round 1. Queen lose straight votes compared to Round 2, and in fact registers their lowest vote total so far, but still gets through in a battle against Leona who also registers her lowest vote total so far.

12th December voting still open

Quarter-final 3 -

2008 - Alexandra Burke - Hallelujah

2009 - Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name

So the last Quarter-Final will be a Spice Girls vs Spice Girls vs Spice Girls vote!

12th December results

Quarter-final 3 - 2281 votes cast

2008 - Alexandra Burke - Hallelujah - 26% (593 votes)

2009 - Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name - 74% (1688 votes)

So Alexandra gains 296 votes on Round 2, but it isn't enough against rage who gain nearly 500 votes on their already very high vote total from the last round.

THE FINAL

1996 - Spice Girls - 2 Become 1

2009 - Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name

At the time I voted Rage were only leading 50.5 to 49.5 - quite a surge of late votes for them it seems, with that ending up not even being the closer one of the semi-finals!

The final is not looking close at all on the other hand.

Unfortunately it's the wrong song being the runaway winner, looks like Spice fans are the superior motivated group voting in this. Having said that, I've just checked back and it is actually a lot closer than it was when I voted earlier - Spice Girls had 80%(!) of the vote then, they're still pretty far ahead now but not quite to the same degree

.

Voted Rage there!

I mean has there ever been a more iconic number one reveal?

Oh wow, so they actually did in the end! :cheeseblock: really didn't think they would be able to overcome the massive lead Spice Girls had earlier in the day.
