This album with a little bit of trimming down to about 12 songs would have been very solid. Including the last two tracks make it a difficult album to finish. I’m not entirely sure about the track listing but I guess they were also experimenting with new sounds as well. I may be in a minority but I think I prefer this album to Steptacular!

Wouldn’t hurt so bad gives me ‘we are singing in a night club’ vibe/we need to do another ballad. It drags a bit and doesn’t tickle me that much..

5.5/10 for this one!

Thank you for joining me on a listen through, hopefully some others will pipe up over the next few days!

If you believe gives me Disney vibes. Love Faye’s voice on tracks like this. The song itself is nice, nothing spectacular.

7/10 for the closing track!

Very welcome and thanks for hosting :)

Overal:

-Some very strong tracks. Some duds as well.

-Loved their (mostly) Abba sounds on the first 2 albums but the change with this album was needed. That’s why it’s my favorite from their first albums.

-It could’ve been a bigger hit, especially in Europe.

Great to listen to their old albums again and share it with you. And looking forward to more replies :)

Off for now, as I need to get up early tomorrow.

Thanks again Jamesy and have a lovely evening ^_^

Thanks for hosting James, sorry I couldn’t make it, I’ll be able to do my listen through and thoughts tomorrow.
Oh, I actually enjoy Stomp! I agree other releases deserved the #1 spot. Happy they got another #1 though. Love the campiness of this song and it doesn’t sound dated nowadays. The video is fun but also a bit weak concept wise.

8.5/10 for this underrated song!

I love stomp, I know it's not a huge fave among fans but I've always been a big fan.

Better The Devil You Know:

I knew this was a cover of the Kylie Minogue song but I think I'd only heard it once before hearing this when I got the single of this in January 2000. It's a nice enough cover, that doesn't add anything to the original but doesn't butcher it either.

Stomp:

I use to be obsessed with the music video for this song. I think it was that bit at the start with Lisa & H, the 'chill Bill' line. haha

I also remember this didn't get released in Australia until January or March of 2001 with a completely different single cover. That 3-6 month wait was torture, often thinking it'd never happen.

The song itself is nice enough, not one I always go back to but when I do I enjoy it.

Summer Of Love:

When this was released alongside 'When I Said Goodbye' I found myself not really liking this at all, I always preferred 'When I Said Goodbye'. It wasn't until they reformed in 2017 that I truly started to appreciate this song and it's magnificence.

It's The Way You Make Me Feel:

To say I was obsessed with this in January 2001 would be an understatement. The song, the music video, the dance was perfection to 13 year old me. To me this wouldn't be out of place on an early Britney Spears album. I got an import of this from the HMV in the city a few months after it was released and was so happy to have a copy of this.

You'll Be Sorry:

Another one I really loved for a period, around 2006-10 I would play this and another album track constantly. (more on that later).

To me this is very Euro friendly, it sounds very similar in style to something like Pray or Forever by Tina Cousins which I'm sure were released around the a similar time. It's slightly to much H, it would've been nice to hear Lee on this track. Still rather enjoyable for me though.

Learn To Love Again:

The absolute low point of the album for me, I didn't really like it then and I don't like it now. Not much else to say sorry.

Never Get Over You:

An improvement on the track before it but still in the bottom few on the album for me. It's not horrible, just not very memorable and I don't have many memories of this one.

Hand On Your Heart:

I've always enjoyed this song, though I've also always enjoyed a good Claire ballad. It's nice without being spectacular though. I did think when first seeing the track listing for the album in 2000 think the was another Kylie Minogue cover though.
