Do they generally playlist new Christmas songs? I can't recall how they've treated them in the past.

 

I wonder if they have a blanket policy to just spot play Christmas and leave Radio 2 to playlist them.

 

It seems to be that these past few years though they def used to playlist them. They A Listed ‘Somewhere Only We Know’, ‘Christmas Lights’ and ‘The Power of Love’ a decade ago albeit two of those aren’t exactly Xmas songs!

It basically goes to show that Ed/Elton and George Ezras Xmas songs are getting 2 plays a day so are basically playlisted without being officially there and they are also giving spot plays to Sigrid and Mabel/Lola to a lesser extent.

 

Did the same for radio 2 but that is more of a Xmas song free for all from the very start of the December, radio 1 is still just playing them 2 per show. A lot of the single plays are from the chart shows but they are playing the likes of Lik Nas X, The Wombats and Sam Fender too!
