Real end of an era today as the sad news breaks that, for reasons of ill health, Clive Everton is stepping down as editor of Snooker Scene & indeed as it stands the magazine itself is also finishing.

Players on the World Snooker Tour will be guaranteed to earn a minimum of £20,000 during the 2022/23 season, under a new system which offers them security in a difficult economic climate.

The initiative will be introduced with immediate effect, with players to be offered payments of up to £10,000 in September, and a further £10,000 in January.

These payments are set against prize money, so players otherwise earning £20,000 or more over the season will have the up-front payments deducted from their prize money earnings. The system will particularly benefit those who would otherwise earn less than £20,000 in prize money.

Ryan Day is no mug. He’s won 3 ranking finals and been runner up in a further 6. He’s been as high as 6 in the world. I wouldn’t be so certain it’ll be so one sided. Allen will be the favourite in the British Open final yes, but Day is certainly not a walkover.

Many congratulations to Ryan Day, he is a Top 16 player, 4 ranking titles isn't to be sniffed at, he played brilliantly, absolutely fantastic.

Great win for Marco. Yes Selby didn’t play well but Marco did what he had to do.

Ronnie O'Sullivan beat home favourite Marco Fu 6-4 to win the Hong Kong Masters in front of 9,000 spectators - a new record for the biggest live snooker crowd ever.

The seven-time world champion took a 5-2 lead and held off a spirited challenge from Fu to claim the title.

O'Sullivan, who earned £100,000 for his first title of the season, said: "It feels fantastic.

"I want to say this is probably the best tournament I've ever played in."

He continued: "We've never played in front of more than maybe 3,000 fans. To have 9,000 fans watching a snooker match [is] unheard of, so hopefully we can come back year on year because the fans have been fantastic."

130 break from Zhou and he wins 5-4 :D, Great performance from him in that frame, great break under pressure.

That’s some effort from Mark Allen to reach back to back finals in his home event. The pressure on him is of course immense and playing as defending champion only increases the expectancy.

Liang Wenbo has been suspended from the professional snooker tour again, this time for ‘an ongoing investigation into allegations of misconduct.’

The 35-year-old was due to play Peter Lines in an English Open qualifier on the morning of Thursday 27 October, but was stopped from doing so.

The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association has now confirmed that he is suspended from all WPBSA sanctioned events while the investigation is ongoing.

The nature of the misconduct allegations has not been divulged, but they are not related to Liang’s conviction for assault earlier this year.

Ronnie will be able to watch TV at home, point his cue at the screen and beat Milkins.

I'd love to see Mink beat Zhao, but seems unlikely. And she sure as hell won't beat Ronnie.

Ronnie vs Zhao could be good. Zhao is the only one who I'd say might beat Ronnie. But Ronnie is favourite.

What a win for Zak Surety

He beats Stuart Bingham 4-3 in an all-Basildon battle - a 133 total clearance gets it done in the decider in the Scottish Open.
