The squad has been announced for the Women's test against South Africa. First test squad without Brunt or Shrubsole. This includes 5 previously uncapped players, two of which haven't seen any action internationally. Bell was a travelling reserve for the World Cup.

England captain Ben Stokes missed Tuesday's training session before the third Test against New Zealand because he felt unwell.

The all-rounder, 31, travelled to Leeds from his home in the north east while the squad trained at Headingley.

Jason Roy hammered 101 off 86 balls and stand-in skipper Jos Buttler blasted 86 off 64 to help England clinch a comfortable eight-wicket victory over the Netherlands and seal an emphatic 3-0 one-day international series win.

Buttler deputised for injured captain Eoin Morgan, who was suffering with a groin injury, and saw the Dutch dismissed for 244 as Scott Edwards (64) top scored.

David Willey finished the pick of the attack with 4-36 before England made light work of the total in 30.1 overs as Buttler and Roy guided them home with unbeaten knocks.

This was the ninth time Buttler has skippered England in ODIs and his record reads won six, lost three.

England's bowlers were once again held up by New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell on day one of the third Test at Headingley.

Mitchell, who already has two centuries in the series, ended 78 not out as the Black Caps recovered from 123-5 to reach 225 without further loss.

Blundell made 45 not out, combining for an unbroken stand of 102 with Mitchell to follow partnerships 195 in the first Test and 236 in the second.

After losing the toss, England - 2-0 up in the three-match series - bowled admirably on a flat pitch but were left to rue the decision not to review an lbw decision against Mitchell.

England wicketkeeper Ben Foakes has been ruled out of the final two days of the third Test against New Zealand after testing positive for Covid-19.

Foakes, 29, did not keep wicket on day three at Headingley on Saturday because of a stiff back with Jonny Bairstow taking the gloves in his place.

England say after further medical assessment he has tested positive for coronavirus.

Kent's Sam Billings will now replace Foakes as a Covid-19 substitute.

England's World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan is set to retire from international cricket.

An official announcement could be made on Tuesday.

Under Morgan, England won the 2019 World Cup and reached the top of the one-day and Twenty20 rankings.

The 35-year-old, who took charge of the T20 side in 2012 and one-day side in 2014, has struggled for form and fitness in recent times, with Jos Buttler the favourite to replace him.

That was a very entertaining test series. The new coach and captain have made a big difference.

Still some of the same problems there imo, but we seem to have taken a white ball approach to red ball cricket at times. I still think that top order we have is very flimsy. We'd have the same problems in the winter overseas.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan is stepping back from his work at the BBC amid the "ongoing dialogue" around the Yorkshire racism investigation.

Vaughan was charged by the England and Wales Cricket Board earlier this month along with a number of others.

On Monday a joint letter by two groups of BBC staff raised concerns about the 47 year-old's continued involvement in the broadcaster's cricket coverage.

Vaughan was named in Yorkshire's report into Azeem Rafiq's claims of racism.

He has denied an allegation that he made a racist comment to a group of Asian players.

Vaughan was not involved in the BBC's coverage of the Ashes in Australia over the winter, but returned to commentary in March.

Yorkshire's Finlay Bean broke the national record for the highest score in a Second XI Championship match against Nottinghamshire.

Opener Bean, 20, scored an unbeaten 365 not out on day three of the four-day match to surpass Marcus Trescothick's 322 for Somerset from 25 years ago.

Bean also became Yorkshire's first second-team player to score a triple century, beating Richard Blakey's 273 not out at Northamptonshire in 1986.

The second day of Sri Lanka's opening Test against Australia was delayed after a storm damaged large parts of the ground.

No injuries were reported in Galle but a spectator stand collapsed, while the roof was torn off another area of the ground.

Broadcast equipment and a sightscreen were also toppled.

Despite the damage, play resumed relatively quickly and only 31 overs were lost from the day.

Warwickshire have signed all-rounder Ed Barnard from Worcestershire on a three-year contract, from the 2023 season.

Shrewsbury-born Barnard, 26, who made his debut in 2015, is the Pears' top County Championship run-scorer and wicket-taker this season.

He played a key part in earning them their last Championship promotion under then boss Steve Rhodes in 2017.

Barnard also starred in the 2018 T20 Blast triumph, Worcestershire's first knockout trophy final win in 24 years.
