Getting rid of one stopper would be nice. I wish I could share your optimism and I hope that you, of the two of us, are right!!

Distinctively squared air intakes there. I wonder how similar in concept this will be to the real RB18, when we actually get to see it properly

Formula 1's governing body failed to make any proposals following its inquiry into the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at a high-level meeting on Monday.

Instead, the F1 Commission of teams, F1 and the FIA was told that analysis into the controversial events at last year's title-deciding race was still ongoing.

The whole situation is becoming even more farcical and no doubt this will rumble into the start of the new season now. I'm not sure what the answer is to be honest but a rule that the race director can do whatever the f*** he wants and override any other rule which completely goes against any precedent is not it.

Elsewhere I see they've confirmed 3 sprint races at Imola Austria & Brazil. Not sure why Brazil gets one again but it was the best of the 3 last year I suppose. Also awarding points to the top 8 I can't imagine will change much.

And in definitely the most welcome news there will never be another Spa 2021 half-points farce. No points will be awarded whatsoever should the same scenario occur, gotta have at least 2 'actual' racing laps.

That was expected.

The meeting of the F1 Commission today was about going over all angles f the inquiry and was chaired by Ben Sulayem, who will himself analyse the information and present a plan 'within the coming days'

It is expected that team communication directly with the RD will be restricted or removed and that the RD's role will be shared between two individuals working together.

Nothing to get worked up about yet

It's almost like they designed it to look like a midfield runner/backmarker. Looks like a Prost or an old Tyrrell
MUCH better now it's predominantly blue, didn't like the liveries of 20/21 but the 19 one was pretty groovy.

This is the actual car. Not sure why they used a showcar for the launch when everyone will see photos of the real thing later the same day

Interesting nose and sidepods on that Williams.

Apparently they used the show car because they worked on the livery too late and couldn’t put it on an accurate render. Which I believe about as much as Rebecca Vardys PR „accidentally“ losing her phone on a boat in the North Sea just after it was requested by the court

Yeah, that sounds like nonsense.

Mind you, I'm feeling a bit negative about Williams right now over the dropping of the Senna 'logo' from the car's livery. Not so much because it needs to be there to remember him - he won't be forgotten, and in fairness only raced for them 3 times - and I acknowledge they're still supporting the Senna Foundation.

It annoys me because it was something Frank deeply cared about having on the car, and this feels like a wiping away of the last remnants of what made the team special. I reckon the team would be renamed by now if it wasn't for the prestige and sponsorship their name and history brings with it.

It reminds me of how Team Lotus died a slow death after the Chapman relinquished control and that's concerning

Michael Masi has been replaced as F1 race director for the 2022 season,
As expected, mind you let's reserve judgment until the new one(s) have a full season under their belt without screwing too many things up. And that was the thing with Masi it wasn't even just the Abu Dhabi situation but a whole plethora of poor calls during his 3 year stint.

From The FIA:

Firstly, to assist the race director in the decision-making process, a Virtual Race Control Room will be created. Alike the Video Assistance Referee (VAR) in football, it will be positioned in one of the FIA Offices as a backup outside the circuit. In real-time connection with the FIA F1 race director, it will help to apply the sporting regulations using the most modern technological tools.

Secondly, direct radio communications during the race, currently broadcast live by all TVs, will be removed in order to protect the race director from any pressure and allow him to take decisions peacefully. It will still be possible to ask questions to the race director, according to a well-defined and non-intrusive process.

Thirdly, unlapping procedures behind safety car will be reassessed by the F1 Sporting Advisory Committee and presented to the next F1 Commission prior to the start of the season.

And finally, I would like to inform you that a new race management team will be put in place starting in Barcelona for the test session.

Niels Wittich and Eduardo Freitas will act alternatively as Race Director, assisted by Herbie Blash as permanent senior advisor.

Michael Masi, who accomplished a very challenging job for three years as Formula 1 race director following Charlie Whiting, will be offered a new position within the FIA.

To be honest I will miss team radio to the FIA, I thought that was a nice addition and great insight. And let's not pretend it won't stop lobbying from principals which has happened for years but we, the viewers, never previously had access to it.
