Alexander Zverev has had surgery on torn ligaments in his right ankle following his French Open semi-final retirement last week.

The German world number three was taken off court in a wheelchair after a nasty fall in the match against Rafael Nadal.

On Instagram, Zverez said "surgery was the best choice" in order for him to return to action as soon as possible.

His brother Mischa told German newspaper Bild that Wimbledon is "out of the question" for the 25-year-old.

Andy Murray's bid for a first grass-court singles title in six years ended in defeat by Matteo Berrettini in the Stuttgart Open final.

The Briton, 35, was troubled by what looked like a left hip problem in the third set of a 6-4 5-7 6-3 loss.

Before that, his run had been full of encouraging signs with Wimbledon just 15 days away and will send him into the top 50 for the first time since 2018.

Dan Evans beat Jordan Thompson to claim his second Nottingham Open title without dropping a set in an ideal boost to his Wimbledon preparations.

The British number two registered a 6-4 6-4 victory over the Australian.

Evans, who also won the Challenger event in 2019, will now move on to Queen's Club, where he opens against defending champion Matteo Berrettini.

unbelievable Van Rijthoven beat Medvedev!!! and quite easily it seems judging by the score.

and he also beat Fritz, Gaston and Felix!

Medvedev now World #1 :')

So 2 Opens this year where the current world #1 won't be allowed to compete for 2 completely different (yet stupid) reasons.

in my personal view, Novax Djokovic was the stupid one not wanting to be vaccinated

but we all got different opinions on the topic of vaccines

anyway, I understand why Wimbledon is not giving points this year but

seems a bit unfair that players lose last years points ie -2000 for Novax

Russia-born doubles player Natela Dzalamidze will be able to compete at Wimbledon after changing her nationality to represent Georgia.

Wimbledon has banned Russian and Belarusian players this year because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Dzalamidze, 29, is on the Wimbledon entry list as Georgian, having competed at the French Open in May under a neutral flag as Russians had to.

Some great British success in Eastbourne today - Jodie Burrage has taken out Badosa, Katie Boulter building on Birmingham by beating Pliskova and Ryan Peniston came from a set down against Holger Rune (and he beat Ruud at Queen's last week in his ATP singles draw debut!)

Serena Williams' comeback continued as she and Ons Jabeur reached the Eastbourne doubles semi-finals with an entertaining win over Shuko Aoyama and Chan Hao-ching.

She and Jabeur saved all nine of the break points they faced.

"Ons held me up today, she was so good," Williams, 40, said.

just read Djokovic is seed #1 at Wimbledon and Nadal is #2, so they only meet at the final

weird choice to have Casper Ruud as #3

as usual, at Eastbourne, 7 of the top 7 seeds have lost before the round of 16 :D
