January 13, 20223 yr Author Premiere 1: Rumix The queens in this non-elimnation premiere are Angele, Aquaria. Elecktra, Envy, Krystal, Kylie and Symone. There is some shade towards Elecktra for being from Italia’s series which is known for not being he most polished, and her not winning a challenge in her series. For the mini challenge, the queens have to rank each other on who they perceive as their biggest competition! It transpires to be, in order, Symone, Envy, Krystal, Aquaria, Kylie, Angele, Elecktra, to which the girls nearer the end are lit with a fire and feel they have to prove themselves. This Rumix is to New Friends Silver, Old Friends Gold, and the queens must come up with their own verse and choreograph their group routine to (re)introduce themselves to the competition and prove why they deserve to be here on the grand stage. Symone and Angele emerge as the top 2, wth Symone’s star quality and Angele’s performance skills edging them out. They lipsync to Janet Jackson’s All For You, with Symone winning the first episode. Premere 2: Rumix The queens in this non-elimination premiere are Bob, Carmen, Icesis, Kita, Lawrence, Priyanka and Vanessa. Again, the mini challenge is to rank each other in terms of the threat they are. This comes out as Bob, Carmen, Lawrence, Priyanka, Icesis, Kita and Vanessa, to which Vanessa is incensed and remarks she will send everyone home if she has to. This Rumix is to Just What They Want, with Bob and Priyanka coming out on top, thanks to Bob’s comedic and self-deprecating verse and Priyanka’s performance prowess and personality. The two lipsync to Break Up Song by Little Mix, which Priyanka wins.
January 13, 20223 yr Vanessa was fantastic I thought on her season :( However compared to Envy there’s no competition
January 13, 20223 yr Author Vanessa is my least favourite winner ever oops, I thought she feasibly could have been bottom for Snatch Game, Rusical, the acting and the improv and that's just in a eight episode season!!
January 13, 20223 yr Author EPISODE 3: Design Top 2: Angele, Icesis High Lawrence, Carmen Low Bob Bottom 2: Symone, Kita Mean The queens all come together for the first time, for the first elimination. The group debriefs each other on the two premieres, and that Symone and Priyanka were the two winners. There is some awkwardness and shade as not everybody is recognised - some of the girls are not aware of some of the non US and UK winners, and there is some underestimating of the purported “lesser known” queens. The first competitive challenge for the entire crop is a design challenge, where the queens must design something based on a design or looks challenge from the season that they won! Bob was riding high from her top 2 placement on the premiere, but comes crashing down to Earth, as she realises she will have to try and redeem her Book Ball flop. Symone is also worried as she struggled on her own Ball. Some of the queens that didn’t reach the top in the premieres are happy with design, such as accomplished seamstress Lawrence and Carmen. On the runway, the tops are Angele, Icesis, Lawrence and Carmen. Angele decided to use the Thai food challenge that she won, and she impresses the judges with her Thai Green Curry look which is lauded as a high fashion concept with immaculate execution. Icesis took inspiration from the Sinners’ Ball and did a Greed inspired look, which the judges praise as being totally different from anything else on the stage, whilst Lawrence does a Scottish tartan look inspired by her hometown runway and Carmen successfully pulls from her Mercadillio look with some more couture. On the other end of the scale, Bob fails to improve upon her Book Ball look, with the judges noting the concept is basic and the details are lost, but it is constructed pretty well. Symone’s Bag Ball look is too similar to her first go, and is too basic, whilst Kita Mean’s look inspired by her Rucycled design look is a bit of a mess. The top 2 are chosen as Angele and Icesis, who must lipsync to I Don’t Need A Man by Pussycat Dolls, which is a close fight but Angele emerges as the winner, bagging an impressive start to the competition with two top 2 placements including one win! The bottom 2 are Symone and Kita, who lipsync to All The Things She Said by tAtu, which is won handily by Symone, sending Kita home first. Kita is upbeat despite this, noting that design was not her strength at all and it was just the way the challenges happened to fall.
January 13, 20223 yr Glad to see Symone get a well-deserved bottom. I have to say I still don't really get her as a winner. She can do one character and otherwise she's just skinny and pretty. The fact she has a record number of lipsync wins boggles my mind considering she's not exactly a dancer.
January 13, 20223 yr Author EPISODE 4: Improv Top 2: Bob, Carmen High: Symone, Elecktra Low Angele Bottom 2: Krystal, Vanessa The first elimination is heavy on the queens’ hearts and the competition begins to feel real. The initial divide between non-English spin-off queens and the “more popular” English speaking queens is less prominent as Angele has been in the top twice, and Carmen made a strong mark last week, and the queens note that it is anyone’s game. Vanessa vows that she will win a challenge too, still heated that she was voted at the bottom of the threat scale in her premiere, and she feels like she should have been in the top over Carmen in the design challenge, which causes an argument with Carmen, who cooly retorts she would forget Vanessa if not for the drama she has caused. This week’s challenge is improv - the queens must guest on the established Bossy Rossy show, as various characters which the queens must come up with themselves after being given a scenario that explains why they are on the show. This week’s tops are Bob, Carmen, Symone and Elecktra. Carmen and Elecktra are a pair, with Carmen acting as an Italian model who can’t speak English and Elecktra acting as a Spanish model who can’t speak English, taking on the linguistic flair of each language and having fun with it, which is praised as the judges note they can make fun of themselves and each other easily. Bob and Symone are with Lawrence, playing Real Housewives type characters who are fighting over their cleaning lady, Lawrence’s elderly character. The two big personalities are praised for not taking over the scene and working well together, allowing each other to shine whilst seizing every opportunity. The bottom queens are Angele, Krystal and Vanessa. Angele was paired with Priyanka as Priyanka’s warring frumpy sister who was fed up of her glamorous sister stealing the limelight, and the judges felt that Angele let Priyanka take over and didn’t assert her own personality into the part to push it over the edge. Krystal and Vanessa were a disastrous pair as feuding dominatrix characters, both going way too over the top but one note, with the judges noting that neither came off well. Bob and Carmen are named as the top 2; they lipsync to Walking On Air by Katy Perry. Carmen easily beats Bob, claiming a victory with her performance skills. The bottom 2, Krystal and Vanessa, face off to Million Dollar Bill by Whitney Houston, and whilst Vanessa performs well, it’s Krystal who wins, leaving Vanessa to sashay away with the win she was threatening to pull off…
January 16, 20223 yr Author EPISODE 5: Girl groups Top 2: Kylie, Priyanka High Angele Low Krystal Bottom 2: Aquaria, Elecktra Vanessa, having been the drama for the beginning of the competition, leaves the workroom almost feeling quiet, as the girls wonder what will test them next, knowing that all of their skills will be tested and they are evenly matched! This week’s challenge is the iconic girl groups challenge! The girls are split into four groups of three for this challenge. Kylie, Angele and Priyanka are one team, Bob, Symone and Lawrence team up, Envy, Icesis and Carmen are together, and Aquaria, Elecktra and Krystal form the final group. Oti Mabuse choreographs each group, but the girls must come up with own lyrics that tell a story between their group, they choose the message. Kylie, Angele and Priyanka speak of growing up different to everyone around you, Bob, Symone and Lawrence speak of their mental health and how humour/strength wins out, Envy, Icesis and Carmen theme their verses around being Latin/Spanish and Aquaria, Elecktra and Krystal decide to go for a parody of Mean Girls about how “hot girls have problems too”. The winning group is Kylie, Angele and Priyanka, whilst Aquaria, Elecktra and Krystal are singled out as having performed the worst, leaving the other two groups safe. Kylie is praised for her emotive and personal lyrics, Angele is lauded for having a unique angle and Priyanka is praised for her perfect balance of confident resilience and self-deprecating humour, with their tight performance as a group being singled out too. Aquaria is criticised for not bringing her own personality, which the judges know is there, to the verse, whilst Elekctra’s lyrics are critiqued as being surface level and Krystal is told she performed better than her teammates and was the only saving grace. The top 2 are Kylie and Priyanka, whilst the bottom 2 are Aquaria and Elecktra. Kylie and Priyanka face off to Rain On Me by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, which is an electrifying lipsync for the ages in which both queens fight with all their prowess, and this turns out to be a deserved double win. In a bid to stay in the competition, Aquaria battles Elecktra to Potential Breakup Song by Aly & AJ, which Aquaria wins, sending the only Italian winner home. Elecktra is disappointed that she could not get the challenge win she didn’t get on DRIT, but she is defiant that nobody can ever take her crown!
January 16, 20223 yr Author EPISODE 6: Acting Top 2: Symone, Carmen High: Bob Low: Envy Bottom 2: Kylie, Krystal Following Vanessa and Elecktra being eliminated one after the other, Anglele worries that the odds are stacked against the non-English speaking series queens. Cracks could begin to show, but Carmen and Envy remain headstrong and confident in their talent. This week's challenge is revealed to be an acting challenge inspired by an 80s soap opera. After winning the reading challenge, Bob gets to assign the roles, choosing the feisty matriach for herself. Envy is given her promiscuous youngest daughter, Lawrence is given the nosy neighbour, Aquaria is given the ostensibly put together prim and proper old daughter, Kylie is the mysterious long-lost daughter of Bob who was given up for adoption, Krystal is Kylie's murderous adoptive mother back for revenge, Angele is Aquaria's new fiance who is just meeting the family, Symone is Bob's visiting mother, Carmen is the elderly housekeeper who collects everyone's gossip and Icesis is Envy's best friend who is secretly having an affair with Aquaria's character. The top queens are named as Bob, Carmen and Symone, whilst Envy, Kylie and Krystal find themselves in the bottom. Bob is praised for tying everything together as the main role, Carmen is lauded for her comic timing and not being afraid to laugh at herself as the elderly comic relief character, whilst Symone is given positive critiques for bringing out the mother-in-law stereotype with vigour. Envy is critiqued for being too one note, whilst Kylie and Krystal as a pair are told that they relied on each other too much and did not go far enough with their characters. Bob is called safe, leaving Carmen and Symone as the top 2, whilst Envy is also saved, leaving Kylie and Krystal to lipsync. Carmen and Symone lipsync to With Love by Hilary Duff, which Symone wins, netting her second lipsync win. Kylie and Krystal face off to the Jessica Simpson version of These Boots Are Made For Walkin', which Kylie handily wins despite Krystal's best efforts, leaving Krystal to sashay away.
January 16, 20223 yr Author EPISODE 7: Rusical Top 2: Kylie, Carmen High: Priyanka Low: Lawrence Bottom 2: Aquaria, Icesis Following Krystal's elimination, Lawrence is despondent to lose her UK sister and feels frustrated that she is yet to get a top 2 placement, despite feeling she deserved it multiple times. The queens remind her it could be her time any minute - before they're told this week is a Rusical.... "Maybe next week..." Lawrence's confessional says in a Dawn the jockey X Factor reference. This Rusical is a homage to the iconic pop princess Britney Spears, with each queen being given a different Britney era. Lawrence is Britney Jean, Envy gets Oops! I Did It Agan, Kylie gets the debut era, Carmen has In The Zone, Priyanka has Circus, Symone gets Femme Fatale, Icesis is Britney (2002), Angele is Glory and Aquaria is Blackout. In the runthrough, Lawrence and Icesis noticeably struggle with choreo and the other girls grow frustrated that things are taken longer than they should. Kylie, Carmen and Priyanka smash the Rusical and find themselves in the top, whilst Lawrence, Icesis and Aquaria struggled and find themselves in the bottom. Kylie is lauded for her performance skills and embodying Britney's iconic breakout in ...Baby One More Time, whilst Carmen is highly praised for her pop star quality and Priyanka is given props for her tight performance and stage presence. Aquaria is told she didn't go far enough with a big part that could have been standout, Lawrence's comedic part is given some praise but she is told that she was in clearly in her head and held back in her performance while Icesis is told that she flubbed her words and let that derail her performance. Kylie and Carmen are named as the top 2, whilst Icesis and Aquaria find themselves in the bottom 2. Kylie and Carmen lipsync to Now That I Found You by Britney Spears, which is won by Carmen in one of the closest lipsyncs of the season. Icesis and Aquaria fight to stay by lipsyncing to I'm A Slave 4 U, which again is close but Icesis is sent home, leaving Aquaria to fight another day.
January 23, 20223 yr Author The Rusical was a tough one because half the cast could have gone there, Envy or Symone could have been low or I could have eliminated one as a shock
January 23, 20223 yr Author EPISODE 8: One Woman Show Top 2: Envy, Aquaria High: Angele Low: Symone Bottom 2: Carmen, Lawrence Everyone is on a high after an electrifying Rusical which everyone loved, honouring the princess of Pop, but nobody moreso than Carmen after netting a second win, feeling like a frontrunner. This week’s challenge is revealed to be a one woman show, where each queen must take the stage with a monologue type performance that is meant to entertain an audience. The queens are mixed on this one, as they must rely on their own personalities instead of hiding behind a character, and they must formulate all the content themselves instead of being assigned a role. Symone decides to do a segment on growing up in Arkansas, Carmen decides to talk about her coming out, Angele decides to tell the tumultuous personal story of her transition, as does Kylie, Priyanka decides to do stand-up based on her Drag Race journey and winning reign, Lawrence does stand-up, Aquaria chooses to tell her fashion journey, Bob does a parodical how to win Drag Race tutorial and Envy does a make-up tutorial on stage. Envy, Aquaria and Angele are called as the top queens of the week, while Symone, Carmen and Lawrence are in the bottom. Envy is praised for her unique show concept and making it work as a risk that could have gone wrong with the limited time allotted, whilst Aquaria is lauded for making fun of herself and opening up, and Angele is told sh had the judges hearts by opening up about her past but also adding some lighthearted humour to the hard times. Symone is critiqued for there not being much structure to her story, Carmen is told she didn’t open up enough, and Lawrence was critiqued for being in her head, the judges could see the cogs turning in her head and it made for an awkward performance that didn’t flow. As the top 2, Aquaria and Envy lipsync to Everywhere by Michelle Branch, which is won by Aquaria, who nabs her first win. The bottom 2, Lawrence and Carmen, fight to survive to the tune of I’m Outta Love by Anastacia, which is won by Carmen, sending the Scottish purple reign queen home.
January 24, 20223 yr Author EPISODE 9: Snatch Game Top 2: Bob, Aquaria High: Envy Low: Priyanka Bottom 2: Carmen, Angele Carmen's first misstep in the competition sees her confidence do a 180, and the queens remember that anyone could leave at any time, the competition could not be fiercer. And everyone is scared but excited as it's finally time for the most iconic Drag Race challenge... Snatch Game! In the walkthrough, the queens reveal their choices. Bob decides to take a risk and attempt to reverse the Golden Girl curse by playing Bea Arthur, Envy decides to channel Shakira, Aquaria chooses to bring the one and only Madonna to Snatch Game for the first time ever, Symone wants to redeem Nene Leakes, Kylie chooses Rachael Ray, Little Mix stan Priyanka goes for laughs with Jesy Nelson, Carmen wants to embody Latina icon J-Lo and Angele picks Kylie Jenner. In the Snatch Game panel, Bob shines and dominates the challenge as her own penchant for reads and shade pairs perfectly with Bea's iconic acerbic bite. Envy perfectly commands Shakira's vocal ticks to make for lots of laughs, while Aquaria does what seems impossible and manages to embody Madonna. Symone and Kylie do decently, whilst Priyanka starts strong but repeats a couple of jokes. Carmen does a good impersonation but fails to get in many jokes, and Angele is the clear loser of the challenge as she fails to stand out at all. The tops are called as Bob, Aquaria and Envy. The panel lauds Bob for, for the second time, absolutely embodying everything about Snatch Game, and tell her that a huge risk has paid off, whilst Aquaria and Envy's pop divas are given praise too for nailing their mannerisms and making them funny despite netiher being obvious funny picks for Snatch Game. The bottoms are Priyanka, Carmen and Angele. Priyanka is praised for some of her jokes, but the judges note that the performance as a hole verged on being one note. Carmen is told she didn't have any laughs in her performance and didn't let go, whilst Angele is told she had the look down but didn't go far enough with the character, who was hard to make funny. The top 2, Bob and Aquaria, lipsync to When I See U by Fantasia, which Bob wins. Carmen, for the second week in a row, must fight to stay in lipsync, which is against Angele to That's My Girl by Fifth Harmony, which Carmen wins and sends Thailand's rep home.
