What is everyone's favourite example of the 'answer track', those which are recorded as a direct response to another popular hit single sometimes using the same backing music? The most famous example is probably Eamon/Frankee from 2004 although in terms of quality that's not a highlight. Are there any long forgotten examples to be dug up?

 

I love 'You Should Really Know' by The Pirates/Shola Ama/Naila Boss, an answer track to Mario Winans' equally great 'I Don't Really Know' in 2004.

 

I think I did a thread like this before, is this still something that happens though in the current chart era?

Machine Gun Kelly’s ‘Rap Devil’ and Eminem’s ‘Killshot’ is a (fairly) recently example.

A recent example is Sabrina Carpenter's Skin being an answer song to Olivia Rodrigo's drivers license! (Joshua Bassett's Lie Lie Lie was also rumoured to be an answer song and it enjoyed the benefits of the publicity but it's actually not)

Sweet Dreams My La Ex was originally written for Britney in response to Cry Me a River wasn’t it? That would have been epic! But I love the Rachel Stevens version anyway
