Betty Boo (aka Alison Clarkson) is back with a new single 'Get Me To The Weekend' on Sat 22nd Jan. She hasn't released an album for 30 years and her last single to chart was 'Take Off' with Jack Rokka which made #92 in 2007. No idea why she's decided to make a comeback after all this time but I'm intrigued to hear it. She's one of my favourite 90s popstars and I used to be obsessed with her album 'Boomania' which contained the masterpiece that is 'Where Are You Baby' as well as some other pop gems.

I bought her debut album but outside the singles I was totally disappointed with it at the time. I must listen to the album tracks again to see if my opinion changes. Her singles were good from that album and I loved let me take you there from her 2nd album which really flopped and I remember thinking loads must have been like me and disappointed with her debut and didnt make the mistake of buying her 2nd album.

Really? I don't think there's a song on that debut album that I don't like. 'Don't Know What To Do' is a complete bop so I'd start with that one. The second album was a big step down for sure but it still had its moments, the second single from it 'Hangover' and 'Close The Door' being my highlights.

I will re visit the debut but i clearly remember buying the album and listening to it a good few times and been more and more disappointed with each listen so i just put the cassette to the back of my collection and i haven't revisited the album tracks since so the songs are long over due a fresh listen over 30 years later.
Ah loved Betty! This camp auto tuned song is going to do nothing but pleased she is still making music

It was never gonna set the charts alight but I had hoped it was better than it is. Oh well, nice to have her back anyway!

Yeah, considering how instantly catchy a lot of her past material was this feels like an odd choice to go with - hell, a re-release of Gave You the Boo might've garnered more attention (nobody but hardcore stans would know it was from GRRR!). This is pleasant and but not exactly come back material. Maybe it'll stick better after a few listens.

Definitely an odd choice. She's written a whole album though so hopefully there'll be better songs.

Was hoping this would have been better, she might have been better re releasing one of her older hits to get get name out there again.
Looks very Total Eclipse 2007.
Premiered. Obviously very cheap green screen video. Still, she's doing this on her own dime so it's hard to complain.

What a truly awful video! And I hate to say it but some of her dance moves in it definitely remind me of Theresa May
Official Video premieres tomorrow

Appreciate it’s all self funded etc etc., but how are people still releasing content like this in 2022 and thinking it’s a good idea? It looks like it was filmed with an iPhone with a 2007 PowerPoint slide in the background.

I sometimes wonder when artists release songs like this after been away for so long do they genuinely think its a good song, if i was self funding a release id like to think id know something like this would not make nay return.
