Posted January 30, 20223 yr bo_efYhYU2A One of the most streamed songs of all time + the most awarded song ever - cultural, critical, commercial smash! But will Gaga ever have a song as big as it again? Many said she would never have a song as big as Bad Romance again as the ARTPOP/Joanne eras failed to set the world alight, but she proved them wrong with Shallow. Are there more surprise smashes to come in the future?
January 30, 20223 yr Author A few years ago, I never thought she'd have a song even half as big as the likes of Alejandro/The Edge of Glory again but Shallow proved all of that wrong. Rain On Me came too and was a monster smash so it seems is still able to create global smashes. As big as Shallow, one of the biggest songs of all time? No. But I think we have more Rain On Me sized hits in the future at the least!
January 30, 20223 yr Potentially! I mean never say never. It’s a big ask but it’s not impossible. She’s in a good position with the GP these days and her streaming presence has grown as well. I will say that I think her biggest hits still to come these days will be more in line with ballad / soundtrack Gaga though I think that’s where her strength is with the GP these days. January 30, 20223 yr Author Best case scenario is we get the huge smashes with soundtracks etc but still get the club/gay friendly pop albums like Chromatica to feed us too! :kink: We have been truly spoilt with her last few eras! <3
January 30, 20223 yr Her versatility is unmatched isn’t it! I do think she has potential for more pop smashes too. When you think Shallow was released during a time when she hadn’t had a top ten single (well here in UK at least) as a lead in coming up to 5 years and the sound of Shallow was vastly different from what made her a star but she managed to win over a whole new legion of fans with the change in direction and breaking into the major movies world  I think as far as her pop music goes we have more hits to come but like you say possibly more in line with say Edge of Glory type success? But I almost definitely think there’s another signature Gaga ballad whats still to come. I still think she has at least one more UK and US #1 song left in her as well. (I’m already excited to see this thread again in a few years time to see what’s unfolded). Edited January 30, 20223 yr by Jord
January 30, 20223 yr Shallow has everything a song can achieve! Rain on Me was a cultural moment too (chosen as the best song of 2021 by several critics and magazines), but as it was essentially an uptempo dance hit, it didn't have the same cross-generational and cross-gender kind of power. She will have another RoM sized hit perhaps, but not Shallow, never.
January 31, 20223 yr Starstruck would have been bigger than Shallow :)That your option :) Living in your mind rent free
January 31, 20223 yr It's never too late to release Starstruck or Alice as a single Omg ... THIS!!!! Britney did it ans she did it with a song that was absolute SHITE!!! "On Ya RAyYYYYyYyyyyYyYyDDDdDDarrrrr, RoBoT NoIsE!"
February 1, 20223 yr We never thought she'd have singles as big as Bad Romance/Poker Face and then she came out with Shallow so who truly knows. Even Rain On Me's success was incredible.
February 1, 20223 yr Who knows, if she's proven one thing in the last few years it's that she can't be written off or underestimated.
