Womp womp. What a mad rush of a return for her just to have her leave as quickly as she came back. I guess they always needed to address Keanu's 'disappearance' with Karen otherwise it's not a natural way to deal with things if we're trying to reflect "real life". I won't overly miss her and Bernie definitely needs a chance to shine on her own now as Cafe Queen.

They completely wrecked Karen's character really, they left nothing for her to work with so I'm not sad to see her go if I'm honest.

Kathy seemed really out of character in the last episode, willing to call the police on Karen, being besties with Phil, kinda stepping into a leadership role within the group. I get half the six are basically awol atm but even still, where was Queen Suki? I agree Cindy would have been so much better in that role

The slater house must be the tardis

Not into the Eddy storyline, he should just piss off all together. I want to see more Priya and Bernie, also kinda sad we're not getting much of a look into Eve and Sukis life now they're living together. I get they dominated a lot of the screen time last year but still, it's one of the more interesting plot points rn

Edited by Linds.

I certainly wouldn’t. The overacting/gurning in that duff duff, in real life Kathy and Stacey would easily have noticed her presence!

lol at that being the second time Linda’s had to

Exclaim ‘Johnny!’ for the duff duff because of a recast.

At least it wasn’t as cringe as the first time.

That was the most utterly utterly pointless return  I’d have got it if she risked it and came back then got put away for what she did with Albie, or took Bernie (not that I want Bernie to go), or something, anything, but she just came back for nothing pretty much, especially given she had a Julia’s theme driving away exit last time! It added nothing to any story, I suppose other than Linda getting even worse with her drinking for Johnny to find her like that, but that could have happened anyway quite easily.

I always liked Karen so I will miss her and did I quite like seeing her return again. It was pretty in character for Karen to come back and quite realistic (as far as realism can go in this story) that in person she’d make a return to look for her boy. The only thing it lacked mainly is Sharon being there and her absence or more the timing feels quite off. But yeah, enjoying the show still. The character of George’s dad is definitely one to watch as well he’s very well acted but also very unsettling :(

Kellie Bright and Diane Parish are the stars of the show right now. Kellie Bright is just so good with the scenes where Linda turns to alcohol and Diane Parish really is seemingly getting her well deserved praise and attention right now.

I will miss Karen to, I think characters like Karen are needed on the square and to be honest I don't really get how they could axe Karen and keep Bernie and Felix.

For me Kellie Bright for me is the best actress on the show, I find her scenes so believable and she is very diverse delivering a range of scenes so brilliantly and I always enjoy drunk Linda as I always feel I want jump into the tv to help her. Kellie has also shown she didn't need Danny to remain one of the shows biggest characters.

Diane Parish has also been great and has had some great scenes since the murder. I do think Denise will confess all to Jack which will tie in with the affair storyline or Jack will opt to leave Denise for Stacey with Denise revealing the murder and name Stacey for been involved and Jack will be involved in the cover up.

I think the murder storyline is now working again as its opened up some great storylines although I'm not sold on Kathy's reaction and involvement.

I wonder is junior Cindy now coming back now she has been referenced this week and Cindy going to meet her. I also think George's Dad is going to become a very interesting character.

Nish I'm on the fence with as I'm not sure where it's leading to overall, I'm sure he will use Kat in cleaning Phil out in a divorce but from the villain point of view I'm not sure he lives up to expectation as he just seems to miss the mark as a true villain.

Bernie and Felix were kept over Karen because they’re better characters/actors.

Karen was pure panto. I could take her in comedy scenes but she also made me laugh every time she tried to do anything serious/emotional because of the blatant overacting. The character had 6 years in the show and never truly worked. They wanted her to become an icon in the same way they wanted Mick to become one. But in the end, inconsistency meant that couldn’t happen on both counts. I can’t even think of a big storyline she had. Her kids got the bigger stories (even Bernie has had more memorable ones) and all that was ever left for her was ‘how am I going to feed me kids?’ Bianca rip off stories.

She was alright, but I didn’t think ‘oh yay, Karen’s back’ this week at all. In fact I was as impatient as the Six were for her to bugger off again.

I liked that Karen felt quite "real" but they didn't really give her the chance to excel as a character, not for lack of trying from Lorraine Stanley. I think Chantelle's death should have been her big moment, but it all centred solely around Gray and obviously the initially intended domestic abuse plot went into a ridiculous serial-killer storyline which Karen was only a tiny part of. After that, it felt like much of that family became background characters and Karen became a caricature as a result. The chance to give her character depth had long been and gone, so I can't argue with them writing her out.

I do really hope they find a place for Bernie and Felix in the show going forward. I quite enjoy comedic Bernie in the café (it's giving Shona working at Roy's in Corrie, which is a very good thing), but I'd like to see another side to her as I think Clair Norris is capable. Felix hasn't really had any actual storyline yet, would really like to see him embedded further within the square to become more than just a tickbox to say they have a drag queen in the cast (because, again, I think he's capable of something more dramatic).

One could argue though that Karen got little to do with Chantelle’s death because they couldn’t trust Lorraine Stanley to bring it. I mean that whole era was a mess but I don’t think it would have been improved with Karen’s OTT performance of grief. I would like to have seen more reactions from the better actors in the family like Bernie or Keegan. Mitch really did sell his grief, I thought, but Lorraine Stanley is a bit too Panto for it. She can sell a comedic scene but always fails to deliver anything emotional.

I’d like to think Bernie is safe until the actor wants to leave. She’s found a groove in the cafe and works amazingly alongside any of the cast. She can also bring in the heavy and dramatic scenes as seen in the Keanu story and her surrogacy storyline. Felix less so as he’s not had as much to do and I do hope they give him more. Personally I think they should at least rest the waters with him and Johnny. But he’s been effective as a community character and has had some very good moments like supporting Zack over the HIV reveal but we do need to see much more of him. He does feel like a character they will cull some point but I really hope they don’t.

I agree, I think as much as Nish dying at Christmas may have been more obvious, it would've felt like a better conclusion for his character, I don't see much of a need for him any more and he seems to have had more screentime than anyone so far this year

I think they should have done a redemption arc with Nish in a similar way they did with Stewart, I really think if they're going to bring Keerat back now is the time to do it. Idk why they couldn't recast that role if Jaz Deol didn't want to come back.

Speaking of recasts, my first impression of the new Johnny isn't a great one like it seems as though they've done a complete 180 with him, even him turning up in a suit as a businessman doesn't really fit for me but we'll see I suppose  I'm wondering if we'll have some Felix/Johnny scenes based on how often we've seen Linda drinking in the Albert, that's an automatic link for them.

Tbf Johnny is a lawyer and would probably dress like that for work. I think the issue is that the previous Johnny never seemed anything like a lawyer

Right?! He's now violent, and able to take on Dean? Like, what? He's not Johnny at all

Tracey from Birds of a Feather has said she's in talks to appear on a MAJOE soap!! We only have 4, and she won't be on BBC, so it's probably Emmerdale or Corrie. POSSIBLE shoutour for Liverpool Hollyoaks. Corrie is in CRISIS and talks of it being taken off the air like Hollyoaks, so probably that and not EE. Still, she looks like Pauline and could come back as her long lost sister!
If I was to put a bet on I'd say Emmerdale but why is it a case it won't be a BBC has she had a fallout with them?
She's on ITV's Loose Woman. No chance they'd let her work for both channels at the same time! One oe the other usually.
Why is every episode synopsis now “Linda worries the community” “Linda causes concern” “the family are concerned for Linda” “Linda makes the Six worry”
