The song was available to download from the moment Leona won the X Factor. Is it at all concievable that a huge surge in demand between then and midnight might give Leona a low place in tomorrow's chart??

 

I won't be downloading it myself as I couldn't really give a toss about the X Factor, but that would be a pretty cool record - surely any downloads from tonight would be chart eligible?

Well, we have been discussing this very point in the Reality TV forum.

 

It seems that the download will only be avaliable from Midnight tonight, (and the text PIN only aloows it to be downloaded from Midnight) and as the cut off point for this weeks chart is midnight, then the answer seems to be no.

That's not just the fastest selling download it's the fastest selling single ever! Of course, whether it will actually chart depends on whether these are completed downloads, which knowing Simon Cowell, master of the understatement.... :rolleyes: ...they probably aren't.

 

It's a strange thought though. A Top 10 hit in five minutes...wow!

 

EDIT: It's not available on iTunes, so probably isn't actually available until after midnight. I think they dropped the ball there, as that could have been quite an impressive record

if only we knew if Simon the Cowell meant actual completed downloads, or 20'000 ppl eagerly waiting to enter their PINs it would have helped <_<
