If there’s a Royal Blood song on there, I expect it’ll be Shiner in the Dark. I think Pull Me Through was just a “promo” single.

According to their discography page, Pull Me Through is a single but it’s their previous single as Shiner In The Dark is their latest single so I’ll edit that

Just received these CDs from world of books

NOW '86 (first ever NOW album released on CD)

Now That's what i call music Vol. 21 (from 1992)

Awesome and Awesome 2 (EMI compilation similar listings/booklet layout to NOW)

Still awaiting confirmation but it looks like the next yearbook will be...1988!

November 3rd release date

https://nowmusicwiki.com/index.php?title=No..._1988_(UK_2023)

I was hoping for 1987 but at least they didn’t go back to the 70s. I was hoping more for 1987 over 1988 as the former will have more Now omissions seeing as there were only 2 volumes that year as opposed to 1988 which had 3 volumes

Gosh, they cleared Pet Shop Boys, that is a surprise to me! Left To My Own Devices <3

That will make the 1987 version so much stronger with their inclusion on that.

R.e. Belinda, with this series they do seem to focus on the year of peak rather than the year of release, Belinda was a 1988 No.1 so you could argue it could have gone on either.

This also means that West End Girls, Opportunities and Suburbia could appear across Now Yearbook 1985-1989 and its extra equivalent

Could be that Neil and Chris wanted the time to promote their Smash: Greatest Hits album before licensing again. That's why they're

available again to NOW.

with this series they do seem to focus on the year of peak rather than the year of release, Belinda was a 1988 No.1 so you could argue it could have gone on either.

I just hope that with Should I Stay Or Should I Go and Young At Heart appearing on 1982 and 1984 respectively, I just hope that they don’t also appear on 1991 and 1993, respectively

Will they still make a “Final Chapter” spin-off for other groups of years like they did for 1980-1984?

Of course they will, another way of milking the 80's, but I doubt it will happen until they've released all the yearbooks to do 85-89.

I quite like that those mop-up releases give them a chance to add a few tracks they couldn't license before. I think there's probably now a good chance for some of the 1986 tracks to make that release, as Hadji suggested.

It's a good point Mark made r.e. PSB wanting to wait to promote Smash before they licensed anything to Now. I wonder what's stopping Erasure licensing now then.

Bit pointless to not include Erasure seeing as they’re on the re-releases. Watch Drama appear on the Now 16 re-release. Speaking of Now 16, I hope the 3 CD only tracks get included. After 1988, I hope they release 1987 then 1989 then do 70s, 90s, 70s, 90s. Now Iron Maiden are frequently appearing on compilations, I hope they include Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter on Now Yearbook 1990 or its extra equivalent

I think they fully own their masters now ever since Mute was sold to BMG, so they can just say yes or no whenever they feel like perhaps.

The one that’s funniest about licensing is Rod Stewart. He appears on 70s compilations but never on 80s compilations. Same with David Bowie
