I know no-one cares but those yearbooks would be so much more satisfying if they were sequenced properly.

I think they’re gonna do it 70s, 80s, 90s, 70s, 80s, 90s and on and on which in that case, I hope they go for 1990 or 1991 next if they do in decades order

Sorry. Hadji, I meant the sequencing of the songs on the albums.

I think some of the Yearbooks are reasonably sequenced in parts, albeit not helped by Queen, George Michael or Wham! having to contractually kick things off. The start of disc 1 is therefore a particular mess. Let’s play pretend that Father Figure was the defining hit of 1988  But the disc 2 SAW section makes sense as does the mini PSB duo at the start of disc 4.

The Extras are a bit of a mess of sequencing and really do feel like a playlist of leftovers on shuffle. I guess they try and work with what they’ve got, which is usually lesser or barely known hits from a cross section of genres, which I suppose can be hard to meaningfully thread together.

I take your point but one of the discs should have opened with The Only Way is Up followed by the rest of the dance tracks. It was the defining musical movement of 1988 and this is supposed to be a Yearbook rather than just another Now album.

I know I'm being picky and it could also be that they keep opening with George Michael. I'd actually be happy to lose Father Figure (a song I really do like) for the sake of opening with something more representative of the year's major sound.

The third disc opens well but move Voyage, Voyage up to track 3 as it's closer in sound to I'm Not Scared than Oh L'Amour.

And I think Heart (the song, not the band) would be a better pairing with I'm Not Scared than Left To My Own Devices. I know I'm probably the biggest sequencing critic on Buzzjack.

edit - Looking back over the 1988 yearbook again, and it's not terribly badly sequenced. for the most part. Maybe I'm being too harsh. I feel compilations can be more the sum of its parts.

I’d be curious to who they’d open with if George Michael and Queen both appear on the same compilation. There’s a possibility of that happening if they release Now Yearbook 1991. They do tend to keep opening with George all the time on compilations for some reason. I’m also expecting them to announce a compilation for their 40th anniversary and they’re more likely gonna reveal Now 116 on 19th October with a release date of 17th November

Looks like this is the next spin-off and it’s due for release on 10th November. Still no 40th anniversary spin-off and 17th is when were meant to be due Now 116 https://www.amazon.co.uk/NOW-Thats-what-Cal...D/dp/B0CK2R9GLL

Just more of the same tracks they've already released on countless compilations over the last few years or so.

Could compile that one myself as i imagine many of us collectors can.

I'll give that a miss.

At least they have Ed & Bieber and Bad Boys which have never appeared on compilations. The latter missed Now 74

Nobody commented on this yet (unsurprisingly because meh) but they have announced a rather ambitious touring musical that begins next year which seems to showcase 80’s music only. Whether this is part of the anniversary celebration I’m not sure, but it seems a lot of thought has gone into this especially to secure so many venues for the tour.

The Miley Cyrus song which is gonna appear on Now 88 US is Jaded which makes me wonder which of her songs we will get on Now 116. I hope we get UTBY. PTTR is also gonna be on there. Now US have been hinting it on their social media pages
Now 40 Years is due for release on 24th November. They have it as 5 editions; 1983-2023, 1983-1993, 1993-2003, 2003-2013 and 2013-2023. 1983-2023 is selected songs from volumes 1-4. As the albums cover all volumes, they could have at least included 1 or 2 songs which will appear on Now 116. I’m surprised Peter Gabriel is on Now 40 Years 1983-2023 and 1993-2023 seeing as Sledgehammer didn’t appear on any of the 1986 yearbooks. Now it’s on there, they should include it on Now Yearbook 1985-1989 or its extra equivalent. Seeing as they focus on what year the songs peaked and Bruce Springsteen is now licensing his tracks, they should put Dancing In The Dark, Born In The USA and Glory Days across both the normal and extra versions of Now Yearbook 1985-1989

I know it'll never happen, but it would be great to have a volume featuring songs that missed out of the main series over the years. Those surprising big hits they couldn't get rights to at the time or skipped over to feature the next single. Just a thought.

I think it would be a brilliant idea. Especially by including 00s songs which only appeared on the Hits series. I reckon next week they’re gonna announce Now 116

I did come up with a tracklisting a long time ago that was entirely made of omissions!

I think I may have posted this somewhere before, but here is a spin-off compilation I wish they would release;

Now That's What I Call Omissions!

Here is a selection of top chart songs from the past 20 or so years which missed out on being included in the iconic Now Music series. Next to each track is the chart position it peaked to.

Liking the closing section of the last disc of the new 40 Years album - Space Man, Tattoo and Padam Padam *.* A double appearance for Kylie on there too.

And always refreshing to see PSB on there, and neither Queen or Wham! opening - I guess both acts have an agreement that it's ok for them not to open when it's chronologically impossible for them to do so.

SO many formats available and tracklists though, to essentially get nothing new, I'll have to think about what to get.

The only songs from Now 40 Years which are missing from volumes 1-4 are Where Is The Love? and This Is Me

That's a pretty good list and i agree it's a good idea although they still wouldn't have access to some artists like Madonna even if it did happen.

Still shocking when you think what tracks missed being on a NOW, i had forgotten The Killers missed it, don't think that track even

made the Hits series either.

Will probably get the special editions with the booklet

Same. It doesn’t bother me that Where Is The Love? and This Is Me are only on the regular editions and not on volume 3 2003-2013 and volume 4 2013-2023, respectively
