A single from early on in the piece. Sorry for not leading with a clue for this one. It is one that many guessed earlier though. :)

#13 - Last Thing On My Mind

Sorry for the delays and lack of clues for this one.

In at #13 we have Last Thing On My Mind. Released as the second single from their debut album Step One this went to to squash fears that Steps would be a one hit wonder. Peaking at #6 in the UK it would become Steps highest charting song at that time. It also went on to peak at #5 in Australia becoming their second and last top 5 hit their, it'd also manage to chart at #18 in the 1998 End of Year Singles Chart in Australia. (5,6,7,8 would chart at #15 for the year). Back to the song, it's a joyous cover of the Bananarama song released six years earlier. I remember waking up early every Saturday morning hoping to see this on the weekly music video shows. Whilst it's not on of my absolute favourites now it's one I still love hearing.

Another song I'm a fan of, 5,6,7,8 started it all off but last thing on my mind was a turning point in proving they were far from a one hit wonder.
I do enjoy LTOMM! For some reason I don’t like it as much as before though. Still, a very important release for them and it’s their biggest hit here in the Netherlands. Loved seeing it on tv/hearing it on the radio back then  and, shout out to the Speedo!

#12 - Never Say Never Again

As we inch ever closer to the top 10 another album track places at #12. Never Say Never Again featured on Steptacular and for me is pure pop goodness. I'll admit this completely passed over me when I first got the album, Just Like The First Time and Moving On were my favourite album tracks then. It wasn't really until 2020 that I really came to love this song. To me it sounds very similar to Loves Got A Hold On My Heart which I also love, so that's probably why it places so high. It'd now go close to my favourite song off Steptacular.

So the top 11 will consist of 10 singles and 1 album tracks. #11 will come later tonight or early tomorrow morning. Then there'll be a 24hr or so gap as I'm out most of Friday after lunch.

Before the top 10 I will list my 3 favourite solo(ish) singles.

I do really like never say never again but i sometimes forget about it, it does sound very dated now but still enjoyable but wouldnt be nearly as high for me,

#11 - Summer Of Love

In at #11 we have what was our first taste of new (or a song that wasn't a cover) music from what was to be album #3 Buzz. I'll admit that when with was first released alongside 'When I Said Goodbye' I wasn't that keen on it, in fact I much preferred When I Said Goodbye over Summer Of Love to the point where I wouldn't play it as much. I'm happy to say this has changed over time I now love this song. Yes so much more than When I Said Goodbye. I do feel that this was a bit of a missed opportunity for Australia, released as a single in it's own right I could see this going top 30.

Never say never again is one of my favorite album tracks of Steptacular!

SOL  could’ve been a nice European/Australian hit indeed.

Looking forward to your top 10!

Summer of love is another good one, it was very different for them at the time and I thought it would have done better than it did in the charts despite still doing well.
I’ll always love the video for Summer of Love ❤️
