My ReviewNow That’s What I Call Music! 101 otherwise referred to as Now 101 was the third and final release of 2018. The compilation contained 46 tracks with 3 UK #1 singles. This volume was the first in the series to feature music from Travis Scott & Au/Ra who would feature again in future volumes.

Omissions included the popular soundtrack single to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse by Post Malone featuring Swae Lee. Other omitted artists included the likes of Tyga, Kodak Black, Juice WRLD, Bazzi, BTS, Rak-Su and still no music from Drake that would have added an extra #1 to the tracklisting.

Quite a number of artists have so far only appeared on this volume and no other, and at the time of this review, these included benny blanco, Silk City, Dynoro, Loud Luxury, Panic! At The Disco, Lily James, Jessica Keenan Wynn, Alexa Davies & Celia Imrie, Andrea Bocelli, Dennis Lloyd, Halsey (as a lead artist), Stay Flee Get Lizzy, Hardy Caprio, ZieZie, LSD and Dean Lewis.

Artwork Rating: 9/10 Amazing

I always love a dark themed cover. This astro themed cover with satellites surrounding the logo as it hovered over the Earth was rather beautiful and striking for sure. What is also noteworthy is a slightly different curved font used for the logo (most notable with the numbers). It is definitely one of my favourite covers in recent years.

Disc 1 Favourite: Silk City, Dua Lipa feat. Diplo & Mark Ronson – Electricity

This is one of the better dance features for pop singer Dua Lipa. Although Silk City released another single not long prior to this which didn't chart, this has to be their best yet, and hopefully they will have another hit in the future which will feature in the Now series.

Disc 2 Favourite: Au/Ra & CamelPhat – Panic Room

I knew nothing about Au/Ra before this song, and it became a favourite for a long time, and one of my highlights from CamelPhat's vast discography. I was thrilled when I saw that this song was included in the tracklisting, despite it's low chart peak.

Disc 3 Tracklist:

(A concept of what a third disc might look like if other hits from the era were used).

1. Post Malone feat. Swae Lee – Sunflower (from the original motion picture "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse") 2:38 {3}

2. Drake – In My Feelings 3:38 {1}

3. Tyga feat. Offset – Taste 3:53 {5}

4. Kodak Black feat. Travis Scott & Offset – ZEZE 3:49 {7}

5. Ariana Grande – breathin 3:18 {8}

6. Juice WRLD – Lucid Dreams 4:00 {10}

7. Bazzi feat. Camila Cabello – Beautiful 3:00 {33}

8. Dua Lipa & BLACKPINK – Kiss And Make Up 3:09 {36}

9. BTS & Nicki Minaj – Idol 4:20 {21}

10. Rak-Su – I Want You To Freak 3:09 {39}

11. Olly Murs feat. Snoop Dogg – Moves 2:45 {46}

12. The Chainsmokers feat. Emily Warren – Side Effects 2:53 {50}

13. Zedd & Elley Duhe – Happy Now 3:27 {45}

14. Years & Years – All For You 3:40 {47}

15. Steel Banglez feat. MØ & Yxng Bane – Your Lovin' 3:24 {47}

16. Fredo – BMT 2:52 {25}

17. AJ Tracey – LO(V/S)ER 2:45 {38}

18. Mac Miller – Self Care 5:45 {61}

19. James Arthur – You Deserve Better 3:28 {53}

20. Mumford & Sons – Guiding Light 3:38 {40}

21. Imagine Dragons – Natural 3:09 {49}

22. Bring Me The Horizon – MANTRA 3:53 {55}

23. Billie Eilish – when the party's over 3:16 {21}

----------

Total time: 1:19:49

Overall Rating: 7/10 Very Good

I was pleased to see the return of two discs of current hits after the last release only contained one (due to featuring older hits on the second disc). So there was a big improvement from seeing lots of hits, although there was some filler towards the end of Disc 2 it felt like. I would have especially liked to have seen Sunflower feature and that one song alone would likely have increased my overall rating, as well as a chance to feature a popular Billie Eilish single However, it's not a bad effort given what was available in the charts at the time.

My Best 5 (as of April 2022)

1. Au/Ra & CamelPhat – Panic Room

5. Panic! At The Disco – High Hopes

My Worst 5 (as of April 2022)

1. Khalid – Better

2. Dean Lewis – Be Alright

Krept & Konan feat. Tabitha – Pour Me Another One {73}

A very average album for me, I don't honestly care about a single song on Disc 2 but picked Dean Lewis. Even that I only just about like.

Disc 1 has a lot of great stuff, my favourite is In My Mind by Dynoro. Electricity by Silk City is my second favourite but I think eight songs on the disc made my personal end of year top 100.

There is an inlay mistake in which they label Lennon Stella as American instead of Canadian during the description for Jonas Blue's Polaroid.

Thank you I’ve added that detail.
