3 goodies there, I must say Im surprised to see O Superman still in the list (though I do like it), not to mention Walk Of Life (really? - I mean it's no Private Investigation!). I could have been a bit further up the list if I'd pointed John & Yoko (but it's 70's!).

guess I'm not a big 80s fan after all, especially early 80s, cos out of all the songs we've lost I probably really only really like 3 :D

Young’s remake was under 1k away from topping the charts but it wasn’t to be. It was however his biggest seller in the decade.

We certainly prefer this to “Private Investigations”- the album had already sold a million by the time this was released but that didn’t stop it!

Simply red’s best performing No 2 in the rate- It was written by Hucknell way back in 1981 when it was released by his (then) group Frantic Elevators. Rehashed years later it turned into a huge hit.

Holding Back The Years always reminds me of the episode of Only Fools & Horses when it is heard playing at Rodney's wedding reception. Classic song, Classic sitcom.

Ha exactly what it reminds me of too, great scene that with David Jason showing off his great acting skills. Always loved the song because of that, it’s an absolute classic and brilliantly delivered by Mick.

It always reminds me of mis-heard lyrics "Holding Back The Ears" . It's OK, but prefer Moneys Too Tight of their early stuff.

Dire Straits, Walk Of Life is one of my least-fave tracks of theirs, Give me Sultans Of Swing, Romeo & Juliet, Private Investigations and Money For Nothing...

Love Of The Common people is fab, but Come Back and Stay is fabber.

Love some Simply Red but find Holding Back The Years a bit meh.

The other two I (obviously) love. Thought Walk Of Life was really highly regarded but perhaps not.

Say Say Say, Heartbreaker and Everything She Wants- what a fantastic trio of hits. I think Everything She Wants probably isn't the best remembered Wham hit which is a shame.

Walk Of Life will always remind me of my grandad who we lost in January, along with Come On Eileen, it was the song that would always get him up dancing at any family party, so i've got a big soft spot for that one.

Love Of The Common People is pretty good too and far better than the song he actually got to #1 with imo.

Finally we get to a song that attracted 6 voters and it’s Spagna and her fright wig! She may be Italian but the promo was filmed in Nottingham and at Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire.

Yeah so Crazy Frog really ruined this for me with his 2005 cover version which hit No 1. Featured in the film “Beverly Hills Cop” which helped it to become a hit.

A song about Nuclear war which appropriately got to No 2 behind a song about……Nuclear war. Frankie also stood at No 3 in this particular week with Kershaw the filling in a Frankie sandwich. This is our 3rd favourite No 2 of 1984 making it the first year to have only 2 entries left!

I love Call Me , it’s the most 80s sounding song I know, pure joy. Axel F is a classic.

Call Me was in my top 35. It is a fun and energetic song.

I've read somewhere Call Me was the single S/A/W would love to have produced. :P

Spagna-Call Me is a classic, I remember being obsessed with the song as a kid

In Europe she also had quite the big hit with Easy Lady but not sure if they pushed that in the UK
