Posted April 10, 20223 yr After its year-long absence in 2021, BGT is back next weekend for series 15! I thought last series was a bit of a dud with no studio audience for the live shows, but it seems like we're back to normality once more for the show. xbgpml_Fu2g
April 14, 20223 yr Author Loren Allred from The Greatest Showman (sung ‘Never Enough’) is apparently auditioning this series... I get that she’s not a megastar, but seems to have quite a decent career - she recently opened for Andrea Bocelli on tour!
April 16, 20223 yr Jigsaw from the Saw films auditioning for Britain's Got Talent who would have thought it!!
April 16, 20223 yr I'm sorry but surely everyone knows who Loren Allred is, Simon's astonished face isn't fooling anyone. She just got back from touring with Michael Bublé and Andrea Bocelli.
April 16, 20223 yr Author While I don’t think she should have got the Golden Buzzer, she’s hardly a household name! But yeah, it does seem quite unfair.
April 16, 20223 yr Not my cup of tea the singing rooster. The ode to Orville can do one. Some of his material was a bit weak but he was a decent ventriloquist.
April 16, 20223 yr Nick was a saccharine sweet vom fest. He's a decent singer but the whole thing was horribly schmaltzy.
April 16, 20223 yr Author There seems to be a lot of controversy on Twitter regarding Loren’s inclusion
April 16, 20223 yr There seems to be a lot of controversy on Twitter regarding Loren’s inclusion She should at least have sung a different song.
April 16, 20223 yr I'm sorry but surely everyone knows who Loren Allred is, Simon's astonished face isn't fooling anyone. She just got back from touring with Michael Bublé and Andrea Bocelli. Simons face and reaction was fake he clearly knew who she was. I’d say Loren’s someone you’d be aware of by name if you were interested in the charts for example but I think most people would know the song but less so the artist or face behind the artistwhen it’s come from a soundtrack. I mean I knew Loren Allred sang Never Enough and I love the song but I don’t think I’d have recognised her by her face until tonight. With Loren there’s probably a lot of people who just thought it was actually the actress in the movie who sang the song (Rebecca Ferguson wasn’t it). I suspect as well there was an element of making it appear less like a fix / staged moment so another judge pressed the buzzer but yeah, I’m way more sceptical now about these types of shows that everything appears fake. I hope Loren gets more exposure as an artist in her own right but ideally I want her well away from someone like Simon. Edited April 16, 20223 yr by Jord
April 16, 20223 yr Author BGT released a statement about it to The Independent ahead of today’s show: “Whilst most people will have heard the infamous Greatest Showman track, Loren is not a household name, and she deserves her spot on the BGT stage. “We hope that such articles will not count against somebody who is well-deserving of this opportunity.”
April 17, 20223 yr Tbf how is the normal everyday person going to have the slightest idea she toured with Andrea Boccelli in America? The song being known and her being known is two different things. I suppose someone who has had the opportunities she has had, it's unfair for her to have a Golden Buzzer, all that hype, given the way BGT presents itself as this family entertainment show for normal people to get a chance. In saying that, the show is complete tosh to me and she is way more talented than most of the shite this show pedals, so swings and roundabouts. At the end of the day it's a talent show, she is hugely talented, and it's not like it's Jennifer Hudson walking on stage? She was kinda meant to just be the demo singer and ended up on the actual song that took off.
April 17, 20223 yr Author Regarding The Phantom, I wonder if it's Marc Spellman back for another year? In all seriousness, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a former contestant returning again. Perhaps The Haunting from 2019? CvaKs_Gz2Aw
April 17, 20223 yr All right fair enough, I was harsh on Loren, it was a brilliant performance though.
