I don’t really rate the new steps song. It’s ok but nothing outstanding. It’s certainly nothing in comparison to scared of the dark or their earlier stuff.

Its not up with their best, what the future holds for me was brilliant and hard to love up and scared of the dark was almost as good, i do like hard 2 forget but would also say album tracks such as living in a lie is far better.

I expected worse tbh! I agree it’s far from their best release. Still, I do enjoy it for now. Around 7.5/10 for me!

There's two different versions of this song.

On Spotify, 1:41 - 1:46 has Lisa's vocals. However in the music video and Apple Music/iTunes versions it's Claire instead.

There's other subtle differences the music video/Apple Music version, such as at 3:03 and 3:11 when the word "forget" is sung by Lisa and then Claire. It's been described as "more blended" sounding, whereas the Spotify version has a harsher 't' sound on 'forget'. "Video/Apple Music" version has also been described as having "louder layered vocals" and that it's therefore "punchier" sounding.

So perhaps any of you who listened via Spotify should hear the other version and see if that improves it for you?

I'm wondering if it's accidental that there's two different versions  I'm guessing the Spotify version is a mistake and it's an earlier version that has accidentally been uploaded there.

Just seen that this is included at a very low position of 83rd on New Music Friday UK out of 116 songs :( Looking through the songs above them and I'm mostly like... who? :kink:
I don’t see why their record company won’t pay for it to be higher and give them even a fighting chance!

This single isn’t actually BMG! In fact according to Spotify the phonographic copyright isn’t Sony either. It says “ ℗ 2022 Steps Music LLP”

I noticed that. We’re they independent with the ‘Tears’ era?

They did better independent tbh their promo was way better, they managed to chart a single and their album sold more (and chatted higher in Scotland).
