I'd be the same plus for me part 2 is the better of the two albums.

How great to see Steps sitting at the very Top of the album chart and achieving their fourth Number 1.
Maybe delays in getting them manufactured but other wise it really should be available now.

Agree they definitely should've had more avalible. They surely would've sold them.

Steps break Official Chart record with fourth Number 1 album The Platinum Collection: “What a way to celebrate our 25th birthday!”

They become the first British, mixed-gender group to achieve Number 1 albums across four consecutive decades - and join a very exclusive group including The Rolling Stones, Stereophonics and ABBA.

Today is a big day of celebration for Steps, who have just gained their fourth Number 1 album in the UK – and first in 11 years – with The Platinum Collection.

Released to celebrate 25 years since Lisa, Faye, H, Claire and Lee first came together, Steps can now celebrate an additional milestone today; becoming the first British, mixed-gender group to earn a Number 1 album in four consecutive decades (1990’s, 2000’s, 2010’s and 2020’s).

In doing so, Steps join a very select club; other bands to have achieved this feat include the Rolling Stones (the first to do so, they’ve since become the first band to score Number 1 albums in six separate decades), Stereophonics and ABBA. While fellow pop legend Kylie Minogue became the first female artist to clinch a Number 1 album in five different decades with the release of DISCO back in November 2020.

Steps previously hit the top spot on the Official Albums Chart with Steptacular (1999), Gold: Greatest Hits (2001) and The Ultimate Collection (2011).

Speaking exclusively to OfficialCharts.com, Steps said, “We could NOT be more thrilled that our Platinum Collection is this week’s UK Official Number 1 album! We have the best fans in the world, and this is all down to their incredible support.

“It’s unbelievable to think that we’ve now broken records, becoming the first British, mixed-gender group to score four Number 1 albums across four consecutive decades! What a way to celebrate our 25th birthday!”

After a three-way chart battle this week against Aitch and Madonna, Steps come out on top as the most physically purchased and digitally downloaded album of the week in the UK.

Not sure that I agree with ABBA being claimed to have done the same... they had #1 albums in the 70s, 80s and 90s, but their stint at #1 in the 00s was with the album that first peaked at #1 in the 90s. I mean yes it can be said they spent time at #1 in four consecutive decades, but to me it's not quite the same accomplishment as doing it with different albums.

So pleased for them. What a fantastic achievement as well! Who'd have had this down back when "5, 6, 7, 8" first came out? Truly national treasures.

Well said, I'm fairly certain no one would've predicted this at all. Such an achievement!

No one predicted it, great thing about steps is they don't take it seriously as in they are the best band band in the world, what they do they do it well, it's happy feel good music not to be taken seriously, it's fun and we all need fun and steps provide it in buckets and long may it last.

Both discs make for really strong listens from start to finish  they picked some great album tracks to include, Paradise Lost and Happy in particular! I do wish Say You'll Be Mine was on disc 1 though, it feels like a big omission to me.

I went to the London album signing on Monday and had a great time! I spoke to Lisa and H first, H was drinking water as I approached and apologised  before asking my name, then Lisa said she'd guess, while holding my CD with a post-it note containing my name :basil: Faye apologised for the wait (not the worst wait I've had at an album signing!) and was super lovely. Lee didn't really say anything and Claire sent me off on a really happy note, she was so lovely. I got some pics below, not the best of all of them but still better than nothing!!!

I think the signings make Lee a little uncomfortable as he was really quiet when I saw them too, although he did laugh when I told them about my dad's wedding speech for me and how he said "Matthew definitely had some early signs of being gay.. Spice Girls, Steps... and we all knew why Lee was his favourite" looool. Claire said "oh I like your dad he sounds great" (I was so tempted to reply "he can't stand any of you" haha

Listened to cd 2 with Jay yesterday and it was bop after bop. Some unknown songs for me too which were great.

Tragedy 25 mix was the best one for me that build up was amazing

 So glad that it was a great experience overall Joseph! Great pics too, particularly the Claire selfie :cheeseblock: A pity Lee was on the quiet side though it seems he often is based on what other fans have reported!

Loved listening to CD2 with you Maz, was my first opportunity to do so. I think the track list of it is really strong, it flows so well. Quite dancey on the whole! Bar a couple of ballads but even they sat nicely in the mix, providing a bit of a breather. I wish there was a vinyl of the CD2 track list too.

I do agree with you about Say You’ll Be Mine, Joseph. For some reason I feel like Steps underestimate its popularity a bit. I remember at last year’s tour it had one of the most positive reactions from the audience! #justice4sayyoullbemine

I’ll always love your story from the signing Matthew

I can’t really comment on Lee being quite quiet at my M&G’s because I basically told him I want to marry him so… I don’t blame him really!

I really hope they do an update as to whether the 2cd version will be made available again or not as I def would buy another copy to have spare.
