I can’t remember either! I’ll have to look back.

Platinum Collection must be selling much more than WTFH2 on a weekly basis because it’s all singles and will therefore get higher streams. But physically it sold less than WTFH2, so it had some catching up to do.

My estimate for Platinum Collection in its final week in the chart (which was #184 on 30th September 2022) came to almost 32,300 sales. 44 weeks have passed since then, with an estimated 27,700 sales needed to reach Silver in that time. To have gone Silver on 4th August 2023 (most recent chart) it would have needed to sell an average of 629 sales a week in order to do it, but evidently it hasn't done that, therefore its average sales per week are less than that.

These are a mix of official figures and estimates for its time in the chart:

19/08/2022 - 5 [official - sales occurred pre-release date]

26/08/2022 - 24,123 at #1 [official]

02/09/2022 - 3,261 at #21 [official]

09/09/2022 - 1,886 at #47 [estimated sales]

16/09/2022 - 1,160 at #117 [estimated sales]

23/09/2022 - 927 at #173 [estimated sales]

30/09/2022 - 900 at #184 [estimated sales]

We don't know how many streaming sales Platinum Collection manages a week. Ultimate Collection from 13th March 2020 to 26th August 2022 was selling at a rate of just over 300 copies a week, which was presumably predominantly from streaming.

If it was only 300 a week for Platinum Collection then it would be on almost 45.5k now - but it's not as if it would have fallen to 300 sales a week as early as October 2022, so I imagine that its total is higher than that. Honestly 50k+ wouldn't surprise me.

Let's say for example it is on 50,000 sales now and it was selling 300 a week - then it would reach 60,000 by March 2024. I think we can safely assume it'll go Silver by then at the very latest... bookmark me!

If it doesn’t we will be having words Jason!!

Hopefully all 3 of the releases will hit those certified status points overs the next couple of years:

WTFH - Gold

WTFH2 / TPC - Silver

It's likely the platinum collection will get certified first as it should be the album with the streaming advantage out of the 3.

Thanks for that Jay, love reading posts like that

And..my picture disc arrived today :cheer: :cheer:

The fact they havnt been active until this weekend wouldnt have helped but its an album that should get little lifts here and there when they return.

I never expected huge sales for the Platinum Collection but that said, I expected the album to be Gold Certified at this stage of its release.
I am disappointed wit how its performed in both chart run and sales, i did think it would do better than it has, i know they previously had 2 big selling greatest hits but this had plenty to offer although the casual music buyer wouldnt know many of their songs since they reformed. Dont get me wrong it going number 1 was brilliant but the short chart run was disappointing.

Although still longer than many #1 albums get these days #silverlinings
Happy listening!

Thanks! I already had the LP but it’s nice to have the picture disc as well (more songs to one side)!

Well, it’s one of their shortest run so that’s a bit disappointing personally. On the other hand..streaming and giving the fact it’s their third GH’s I’m not mad either. I don’t know if the general public was aware of the new material?

I think the newer music is not well known at all among the general public unfortunately which is a huge shame as i genuinely feel the newer material is as strong as the older material.
It's a bit hard for them to reach a bigger audience, I feel like the closest they came to exposing new material to a bigger audience was the Royal Variety Performance.
The big problem is they have a very niche fanbase that most likely will not grow unless they get that surprise hit. Silver is prob their best album outcome but new material helps them with tours and keeping the tours fresh.
