The Mirror are reporting that a Confidential-like behind the scenes show ‘Doctor Who Unleashed’ will air alongside the new series, hosted by Steffan Powell.

Ummm, how on earth is he the "first gay doctor"? First, Jodi and Yaz?? Second, since when does the Doctor's sexuality change regen to regen?! I thought we were to understsnd that tjey are pansexual?? Given ONE sexuality seems very ... limiting for a character like Doc Who, esp when he/she has HAD same sex relationships snd feelings before, and therefore the new Dox CANNOT!!! be the first gay Doc, as the Doc has ALWAAAAAYS been pansexual.
Tbh I’ve always preferred an asexual doctor and I find it tiring any time they or a companion fall for each other.
The Doctor has a wife - bring her back and with nee regenerations, and explore new gender/ sexuality paradigms via that route. We don't need him/her falling for MORE companions!

A BBC photographer tweeted the other day that RTD’s first episode will air at Christmas this year…

Probably the Neil Patrick Harris episode as that had some references to December in the background.

YAS FINALLLYYYY ANOTHER XMAS EPISODE!!!!!

Unfortunateñy not a fan of NPH, so it'll probably a Christmas one I skip, like the one with the plastic killer Santas

Two days into the RTD2 era and we’ve already got a new (or rather updated) logo and an announcement that the new series will stream on Disney+ outside of the Uk! The Doctor is now a Disney Prince/Princess :rtd:

Ncuti alreadg doing some promo as he went on US TV to make the announcement and has also filmed this video:

I’m so here for this new era. It feels like the buzz will be BACK and it will be the big brand again. There’s no reason why it can’t be in these times of big franchises.

Disney is bringing the £££

The reported budget for the next series is £10m per episode, up from the current £1-3m. That puts it on par with the first season of The Crown which, at the time, was the most expensive show ever made. Obviously there's inflation and there's been loads more big budget tv shows since that have even knocked that figure out the water but it's incredibly impressive to see it on more of a level playing field after 60 years of being the underdog.

The lower budget has of course always been part of the charm, and some of the best episodes (Blink, Midnight) are essentially zero budget episodes, but it's so exciting to see what the show can still do!

New Doctor looks worse than the last!! I'm getting serious Tenant tribute act vibes from him. However, people who do thst, like Jodie, miss the point that Tenant is one of the WORST modern Doctors, as the Doctor should NOT BE A HYPERSCTIVE MANCHILD, and his "glimpses of darkness" were weak, watered down, and just not enough. I skip Tenant's series for the most part, skip all of Tribue Act #1 (Jodie) and will probably skip Tribute Act no.2 (Gatwa). Here to br plrassntly surprised, but hyperactive mandchild vibes are not promising.

That’s because the new Doctor is David Tennant :rtd:

The next episode won’t be picking up directly from the regeneration in The Power of the Doctor as that’s being dealt with by… the Doctor Who Magazine comic strip for the next few months :rtd:

On the one hand it’s good that RTD continues to be so supportive to the other mediums of the show but it just feels odd that the show itself won’t be dealing with the immediate fallout of the Doctor regenerating into a previous version of himself!

New companion is behind announced during Children in Need tonight :rtd:

I don’t know what the red diamond means but my mind can only think red rose, starred in 60th aka Yasmin Finney but I would have thought she’s busy with Heartstopper. Plus they had a day of auditions hmm

New info from RTD about series 14 in Doctor Who Magazine!

- Series 14 has 8 episodes: "Okay, that's fewer episodes than the last full season. But give us time. We have plans, and that's a promise!"

- Christmas specials confirmed in addition each year, with 2024's now being written and 2023's already signed off.

- Annual Doctor Who with no gap years: "It takes a while to get the empire in shape, but that's a serious plan: annual Doctor Who, no gap years, lots of content, on and on."

- The "cloudy background" in the Ncuti Gatwa promo picture isn't real and we won't see that again, it's covering the real background that would reveal a massive spoiler!

- Ncuti and Millie had their first costume fittings on 31st October.

8 episodes is fewer than I'd have liked even if it's more typical of a TV series nowadays, but I have faith in RTD's plan and I particularly love that he's committing to no gap years, that's undoubtedly been one of my least favourite aspects of the new series, especially in the last five or so years where it's been shoved around the schedule.
