May 13, 20224 yr Author  Missed the top 40 this week? Lady Gaga Hold My Hand Soundtrack single from Top Gun: Maverick Released: 3rd May 2022 Label: Interscope Records Video O2CIAKVTOrc Biography Some may dismiss pop as inauthentic. But for Lady Gaga—one of popular culture’s greatest, most extravagant creations—the inauthenticity is the point. No artist has more defiantly embodied that provocation this century than the one born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta (in New York in 1986). Never wedded to the same image—one minute wearing a dress made of raw meat at the MTV VMAs, the next a coat of Kermit the Frog puppets on German TV—Gaga personifies pop’s surface obsessions while simultaneously upending them. In a sense, her creative identity had crystallized by age 21, having been a child pianist, aspiring actor, and burlesque performer. Each of these facets powered her career’s most distinct parts: the celebrity fascination of her first two albums, 2008’s The Fame and 2009’s The Fame Monster; the subversive layering of 2011’s Born This Way and 2013’s ARTPOP; the sincere reverence of 2014’s Cheek to Cheek, her jazz standards album with Tony Bennett; and the rootsier songwriting of 2016’s Joanne. If 2009’s “Paparazzi” reveled in the flashes, then “Born This Way” celebrated inner light: In translating her diffuse identity into world-conquering art, Gaga has become a beacon to anyone else who’s felt like an outsider. Her loyal following—a.k.a. Little Monsters—has affirmed a deep connection to her message of self-love and self-expression, despite pop’s fickleness and her chameleonic exterior. She played out a simpler version of her path to fame in the 2018 remake of A Star Is Born: But while her character’s ascent was abetted by her lover, Gaga’s was all her own. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2009 01 Just Dance (feat. May 13, 20224 yr Author  Missed the top 40 this week? Maisie Peters Cate's Brother 1st single from forthcoming studio album Released: 6th May 2022 Label: Gingerbread Man Records / Asylum Records UK Video LJDr2kpkTMQ Biography “I grew up loving music but I wasn’t especially, precociously talented at anything,” Maisie Peters told Apple Music in 2021. “I really firmly believe that I taught myself because I just love it so much.” That process began in her early teens, when the Sussex singer-songwriter (born in 2000) borrowed a friend’s guitar and started experimenting, writing imaginative songs that transported her out of the small town she was raised in. But it’s hard to believe Peters wasn’t always just naturally gifted. Lauded by Ed Sheeran (who in 2021 told Apple Music she was “the voice of this generation” and signed her to his Gingerbread Man record company) and by her ultimate inspiration Taylor Swift, the singer’s pop is assured but intimate, her lyrics pin-sharp and ultra-relatable. “I’ve always been really obsessed with lyrics,” said Peters. “I used to read lyric booklets and I love storytelling. It’s so in me—so to the core of what I do—that the lyric has to be something you would underline and say to a friend, ‘Did you hear that? Did you hear what she said? That’s so good.’ I would really struggle to do anything else.” In 2021, Peters delivered two projects. The first was her soundtrack to Season 2 of the Apple TV+ comedy Trying, a collection of nine original songs which found her in her “happy place” of soft and sweet folk pop. The second was her long-awaited debut, the wryly titled You Signed Up for This. “People had been asking for an album for literally four years, so it's only fair that I just give them two,” Peters said at the time. You Signed Up for This—housing that folk pop alongside tracks inspired by ’80s and early-2000s pop, as well as three songs co-written with Sheeran—took her decidedly out of her comfort zone (see “Psycho,” a song so removed from the singer’s early sound that she once told her manager it would “come out over my cold, dead corpse”). But across it all remains those gut-punching lyrics, as Peters dissects early adulthood—from growing up to falling in and out of love and using a fake ID. “This album feels like a triumph to me, of everything I’ve learned and everything I’ve done and all the work I've put in—all the years of writing and recording,” said Peters. “It feels like an album of someone who knows the beginnings, at least, of what the music is they want to make and how they want to sound.” - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2021 92 John Hughes Movie -1- 2021 57 Psycho -2- 2022 __ Cate's Brother -1- 0 x #1 | 0 x Top 5 | 0 x Top 10 | 0 x Top 20 | 0 x Top 40 | 2 x Top 100 Social Media Maisie Peters http://i.imgur.com/1SERq1f.png
May 13, 20224 yr Author 40 | 32 | 16th week Charlie Puth Light Switch 1st single from Charlie Released: 20th January 2022 Label: Atlantic Records Group Chart Statistics NE (03/02/2022) | 39-42-41-40-31-35-40-42-34-31-30-26-25-27-32-40 Sales: 100k+ Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio 31 Sales 33 Audio Streaming 31 Video Streaming Video WFsAon_TWPQ Biography Put a piano in front of Charlie Puth and the soul-pop crooner will come up with a hitmaking hook in a heartbeat. Born in 1991, the New Jersey-raised talent took to the keys early, thanks to his mother, who began teaching him piano at age four. By 10, he was studying jazz; at 12, he discovered the power of his voice: "I would go to church and hear the same hymnals and gospel songs," he told Apple Music. "I totally attribute my absolute pitch to church music." A decade later, Puth earned a degree in music production and engineering from the prestigious Berklee College of Music, but by then, he was already a viral video star and a signee to talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres' label eleveneleven. He eventually signed with Atlantic and co-wrote and co-produced two major collaborations: the swaying doo-wop bop "Marvin Gaye" with Meghan Trainor and the powerful Wiz Khalifa team-up "See You Again", which became one of 2015's defining hits. On his 2016 debut album, Nine Track Mind, Puth showed off more sleek pop prowess with "One Call Away" and the Selena Gomez-featuring "We Don't Talk Anymore". He'd stretch his range—and Rolodex—even further on 2018's Voicenotes, a thrilling set of bass-driven R&B and electro-funk that includes co-writes with Hall & Oates and James Taylor, duets with Boyz II Men and Kehlani, and international smash "Attention". Topping it all off is that soothingly supple falsetto, which allows Puth—the ultimate hopeless romantic—to translate anything into love. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2015 01 See You Again (Wiz Khalifa feat.
