Wednesdays top 5:

1 Steps - Platinum Collection (19,594) *

2 Madonna - Finally Enough Love (12,581) *

3 Aitch - Close To Home (12,276) *

4 Oasis - Be Here Now ^

5 Panic! At the Disco - Viva Las Vengeance *

Steps have 100% got this now there is no way either of the others can catch up they would have to sell 7k tomorrow plus whatever steps do and even then they would still miss out. 4th #1 incoming (about time as it rightly should be there 7th after the last few near misses)

That's a great boost for Steps - 2,140 added to the previous day's total!

Madonna increased by 685 and Aitch by 2,671.

Aitch just isn't catching up fast enough to Steps. He's 7,318 copies behind them today, compared to 7,849 behind on Tuesday and 8,215 behind on Monday.

7k lead at Number 1 today is great, i know Aitch is closing in on the number 2 but Steps look very safe and also will hit well over 20k as they are currently on 19,594 and some signings left and the signed vinyls announcement.

Its great the number 1 looks very safe, it would be stressful if the lead was something like 1k as we have to allow for streaming to be added in, and Steps will pick up a few streaming points but nothing compared to Aitch but i still think they will be number 1 comfortably on Friday.

While i am very confident of the number 1 im not 100% confident im more 99% but i get what you are saying, i do think they should be safe for no less than 22k.
I'm putting the champagne on ice, don't know about you guys.

I'll join you!

I am not going to be celebrating just yet…

We’ve seen these things go horribly wrong before.

5SOS v Dua Lipa anyone?

That was the perfect outcome for me because it was the only viable week for the 5SOS album to manage #1, whereas I had a good feeling that Dua was bound to climb to #1 a week later anyway!

For the sake of interest, 5SOS vs Dua Lipa:

Monday:

1 5 Seconds of Summer - CALM (19.2k)

2 Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia (12.2k)

Tuesday:

1 5 Seconds of Summer - CALM (19.8k)

2 Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia (16.9k)

Wednesday:

1 5 Seconds of Summer - CALM (20.5k)

2 Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia (20.3k)

Thusday:

1 Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia (26.8k)

2 5 Seconds of Summer - CALM (22.5k)

Friday:

1 5 Seconds of Summer - CALM (34,941)

2 Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia (34,390)

I get the point but I think the 5SOS situation was a mixture of their label being very late to report sales throughout the week & the band having an extremely feverish fanbase. I don't think either of these factors applies to Aitch.

The gap between Steps and Aitch was 8,215 on Monday / 7,849 on Tuesday / 7,318 on Wednesday. His gains seem too slow to me.

I know we cant be sure of the number 1 yet but the situation with 5SOS and Dual Lipa was different as it was more sales not counted in and 5SOS are somewhat like steps where loads of versions were available that had to be counted in, Dua Lipa a bit like Aitch didnt have as many formats to be counted in.

 A shame, would be nice to have a sales update everyday.

Only four hours left, at this point the sales to count is pretty much just downloads. Might be too late for physical sales to be reported in time.
