October 7, 20222 yr Yeah, for hotels, Liverpool is basically already impossible to find anything affordable. No way I'll be staying anywhere near there. I'd also adivse Chester/The Wirral or maybe Manchester, although it's more of a trek and debatable how easy it would be to get back after the show on a train. Not sure what the likes of Runcorn/Ellesmere Port etc will have available in terms of hotels.
October 7, 20222 yr liverpool is such a weird choice A major city that has a large arena and an international airport? Thrilled for Liverpool, they showed such passion during this process and I'm sure they will do a wonderful job of hosting on behalf of Ukraine. Happy about the dates too, and that the semi-finals will be broadcast on BBC One!!!
October 7, 20222 yr Liverpool’s promotional video was outstanding their passion was clear throughout their whole campaign and they put Ukraine at the forefront of their bid. Well done to them they were underestimated.
October 7, 20222 yr Definitely the right choice - more central location within the UK for everyone to get to and close to Media City. Now I’m just hoping for a Jemini reunion!
October 7, 20222 yr As a Londoner, Liverpool is brilliant news, far cheaper by train than Glasgow would have been. The hotels are already insane but I’m hoping for some extra late night trains/buses to London, or what happened in Turin when everyone cancelled their refundable hotel bookings after they failed to get tickets and after that there were loads of cheap options available. The accommodation being crazy/full from the *day of* the city announcement really has been a recent thing in this decade, as late as Tel Aviv (and Lisbon, Kiev, Stockholm before that) everything just stayed the same price and you could book easily at any time. Makes things much more annoying when planning.
October 7, 20222 yr So myself and a few friends have booked a house from the Weds to the Sunday in Southport, which is about 45 mins drive or an hour on the train, without it being ruinously expensive. Options in Chester are now getting crazy expensive, Manchester still looks fine though. Can’t find anywhere in Birkenhead now. Unless people have family or friends in the immediate area they can stay with (I do in Wrexham but it’s not quite well enough connected ultimately), I doubt staying in central Liverpool is very realistic for many unless they were lucky enough to book something ahead of the reveal! Now let’s hope work actually approve my holiday request after all that, otherwise I will be WFH in Stockport! Edited October 7, 20222 yr by gooddelta
October 8, 20222 yr Ugh, scrap my previous post, my Airbnb reservation was cancelled due to a double booking. Lots of Airbnb hosts even up to an hour away from Liverpool are suddenly finding themselves overwhelmed with multiple bookings and for some reason the calendar system isn’t taking the property off the site when somebody books quickly enough. This has happened twice now. Back to the drawing board… Edited October 8, 20222 yr by gooddelta
October 8, 20222 yr I know it's a long way off but I don't know anyone else going. I'll be needing people to hang out with. 😸 I promise I'll be no trouble. 🙂
October 8, 20222 yr I know it's a long way off but I don't know anyone else going. I'll be needing people to hang out with. I promise I'll be no trouble. There are loads of UK eurofans on Twitter! The Spanish fans are still moaning Chanel didn’t win. Edited October 8, 20222 yr by Chloe00x
October 8, 20222 yr Oh, there will be plenty of Irish people going so I should be fine. I've never met any Buzzjack people so I thought it could be an opportunity to change that.
October 14, 20222 yr Author https://escxtra.com/2022/10/14/montenegro-w...urovision-2023/ Montenegro's out. In addition to the significant costs of the registration fee, as well as the cost of staying in Great Britain – we also faced a lack of interest from sponsors, so we decided to direct existing resources to the financing of current and planned national projects, and organisational and program reforms, which entail significant investment projects in equipment and premises :( also there are rumours that Bulgaria haven't entered either but no confirmation on that just yet. Would be quite a shame if the high prices of the UK stopped multiple countries from coming.
October 14, 20222 yr Such a shame. The host broadcaster should be responsible for blocking out affordable accommodation for the artist and team of each participating country.
October 14, 20222 yr Don’t forget North Macedonia were threatening to quit before the semi-final after the flag incident at the Opening Ceremony. It’s not unusual for countries to withdraw after bad results.
October 14, 20222 yr Such a shame. The host broadcaster should be responsible for blocking out affordable accommodation for the artist and team of each participating country. Who said they aren’t? The EBU increased their fees it could be lots of reasons.
October 14, 20222 yr A lot of the countries like Bulgaria and Montenegro also rely really heavily on sponsorship to fund their participation which is all very well and good until there's nobody willing to foot the bill. Could this mean Kazakhstan finally getting their invite to the big boys competition?
