Bought a vinyl record player finally and listened to some of LPs I've collected through last years.

Some of them is U2's Rattle And Hum.

I like to think about possible new ideas for next steps and projects for Robbie and I got the idea listening this record today's morning.

You possibly know that it's not a standard studio album while it has 50% of lives and studios, new and old songs and some covers, including duets but in fact it's their adventure into gospel and blues music. It's one of the most interesting albums in pop history. It also includes a movie and a Tour based on this music.

10 years before U2 there was Bowie he did his trip to Philadelphia for doing his soul stuff and had become one of the best in the history of Phily music.

I suppose Rob could try to do something like this.

For example he defo like a country music and have recorded the songs in this style since 1997.

In could be his American project and could be an interesting life's and music's experience for Rob himself.

There are many classic country artists still alive and he could get some interesting stories behind them. And there some very actual artists who could help to the project as well. Taylor Swift, isn't? ;)

Check the list of the best ones:

And then at least there had been on Williams already - Hank Williams :) And his son.

Williams & Williams Tour for example :))

Or... another similar idea - he could do something with traditional English folk music, and do the tons of intimate concerts outside big cities.

He could play the guitar thru the show felling himself as real musician ;)

What do you think about it?

Back to U2, it's one of my faves at RAM

p.s. You may remember, that a few years ago Gary has done something similar with Sing. I mean his trip to another country getting a mood from another culture.

But it has been around one single and Jubilee only. Would like to get more from him too!

p.p.s. And also he knows how to wear a cowboy's hat

I often wondered why he has never tried country music, I think it would really suit his voice & would be a new direction for him . You never know with Rob though, he rarely talks about what he is doing & when he does he talks about so many other things at the same time that the emphasis on the music gets lost along the way as he moves on to something else. I also had hoped that he might do an album of ballads at some stage, it's something I would love . I often think about Intensive Care, it's such a good album , did he write any other songs with Stephen Duffy , would love an IC part two :) . Maybe we need to send a hint in Guys direction to see if he could persuade him. . Viva Life on Mars from Rudebox was probably the nearest Rob has come to doing a country songs in recent years & I love that song.

The oldest vinyl ( double album ) I have in my possession is from 1970 Bumpers released by the famous Island Records. look at the song listing , it's amazing, love the album cover . ( only worth about 40 quid )

How did you unearth that video from Jonny Foxes pub with the traditional Irish music  .

i was looking at that Rolling Stone list & thought of Charlie Rich but discovered he is no longer alive -_-

I agree with the guitar idea, something he does not do often enough imo

I've got lots of my 1970s albums in our loft. I dont mind what style just want new songs. I'm hoping that he will release another album soon with some of those songs that he was showcasing on insta last year. They sounded really good!

Just randomly = ))

I'd say that's his country list:

Viva Life On Mars

Snowflakes

Shame

Big Beef

Collision of Worlds

The Queen

The Promise

The Postcard

Family Coach

(I Feel It But) I Can't Explain

Get The Joke

Candy (Country Version)

Let Me Entertain You (Country Version)

I often think about Intensive Care, it's such a good album , did he write any other songs with Stephen Duffy , would love an IC part two smile.gif .
At least Rob gave us some snippets of the unreleased songs from IC in 2018 during IG live... So would be good, yes.

I will try to find the full album. It's always good to listen a quality rock like this.

Some very kind person from Argentina have recorded all these snippets from IG and put the flags! (of course, not all names of the songs are correct and real but at least it gives us more understanding)

Defo it will be a big hit.

Sometimes (actually very often) I think Rob afraid to get a bigger success in US.

Because in this case he will need to change his home and country.

Amazing live it was

It's hard to know isn't it . In general Rob puts very little into promoting himself , not really a prolific social media user is he . Not one for keeping in touch with his fans except for the odd spurt where he does it all together & the nothing for 5 years ( slight exaggeration  ). Maybe he thinks doing collabs is not worth the trouble or he is too worried they might say no . He has already said that he tries to balance family life with his career & does not want to miss out on his kids growing up & as you say the US is his safe haven, known there a little bit but not enough to make him feel uncomfortable .
