Very strange that Burna Boy’s album has done very poorly on Spotify compared to Apple Music, he has just 3 songs from it in the Spotify Top 200!

Is it not always like that on the two platforms? Artists like him do very well on Apple, just look at the single!

‘Last Last’ is also doing very well on Spotify though!

When the album drops artists like Burna do really well on Apple I find, must be a focus on the top of the Apple page!

Have there been any other big Afrobeats albums to compare it to though?

Even with broader R&B sounds you’ve got Brent Faiyaz performing similarly on Apple and Spotify, I was just a bit surprised that Burna’s numbers are so significantly different between the two really.

I did expect Burna to do a bit worse on Spotify than Apple but admittedly didn't think the chasm would be that big. Great to see 'Last Last' getting a bump into the top 10 at least, that should hopefully now be secure in the top 10 officially this week even if his other songs may indeed now be looking to fall short of the top 40.

Anyone who doesn't know the name Brent Faiyaz clearly wasn't reading my posts enough when he was charting with 'Dead Man Walking' (or 'DEAD MAN WALKING' as it now is apparently x), and to a lesser extent his other few top 100 hits as well :basil: I'm not that surprised at him pulling off a decent album bomb, I'd say his popularity is analogous to Summer Walker's, one of the biggest names within the R&B sphere which is a big enough community to get album bombs but not really getting much wider traction beyond that, except when collaborating with Drake of course  Love to see it anyway, I'm not really that into modern R&B for the most part but I've really liked pretty much everything I have heard from Brent. 'DEAD MAN WALKING' feels quite ancient at this point so a little surprised it's even on the album but hooray for it getting sone extra streams off that now, still my favourite song from him.

Slightly surprised in retrospect that GIVĒON didn't make more of a splash with his album for similar reasons but I think Brent is a bit more of a hyped/established name despite not having a hit as big as 'Heartbreak Anniversary' or GIVĒON's couple of big features.

Great to see the 1975 top 40 on spotify. You have to also listen to the Fivio & Laroi collab, it is fire and has a good Far East Movement Sample. Great for Brent, especially as Wasting Time is back in the top 100, for me that song was th song of the summer 2021. That for me was boosted by the fact that Pharrell produced it, what a ledge. BTW please keep streaming Pharrell's new track with 21 savage & Tyler the creator, its called "Cash In Cash Out" it has got to #73 so far in the uk charts. #justiceforpharrell21andtylerwhoneedacashflowortheywillgobrokeliketheworldduringacostforlivingcrisis! :)

Is it just me who was expecting a lot more from the 1975? Did If You're Too Shy not do about 25k chart sales in its first week and would have made the top 10 most weeks (but happened to be released on a busy one)?

Too Shy was hyped for months and months. Fans were singing to all the words live even with it still unreleased, and is quite a bit more commercial sounding than their new one.

If they’d released another 80s inspired tune I imagine it would be just as big, but they’re not that predictable!

also in the top 100 is Guns N Roses - Sweet child O'mine,
