July 26, 20222 yr Author England will attempt to reach the European Women's Championship final for a third time when they face 1984 winners Sweden on Tuesday. The Lionesses, one of the pre-Euros favourites, have never won the trophy but their performances have raised expectations they could win a major tournament for the first time. England thrashed Norway 8-0 in the group stage and reached the last four after coming from behind to defeat Spain in extra time. Sweden, second in the Fifa rankings behind the USA and therefore the top-ranked team at Euro 2022, scraped through to the semi-finals courtesy of an injury-time goal against Belgium.
July 26, 20222 yr All the best to England! I do like Sweden though so wouldn't mind either making it through.
July 26, 20222 yr 1-0 at half time - looking good! Although England definitely still need to be on guard as Spain were in the same position in our last match...
July 26, 20222 yr That third goal was quite something! Sweden will need to do something massive to get back into the game now.
July 26, 20222 yr Author An England team that believe they can win and a great support from their fans.
July 26, 20222 yr Author England manager has been in charge for 18 games, Goals for 100.... Goals against 4.
July 26, 20222 yr England manager has been in charge for 18 games, Goals for 100.... Goals against 4. Twenty of those goals have come in this tournament.
July 26, 20222 yr And England make it into the Final! Very exciting, great to see the team living up to all the expectation.
July 26, 20222 yr Hadn't really been following this year, but wow that was a hell of a performance, was a bit more even in the first half but was a massacre after that. Poor Lindahl, some of those goals really shouldn't have gone in! That's got to set us up very well for the final.
July 26, 20222 yr Great performance from England. Second half was pure entertaining to watch. The Final is going to very exciting to watch as Serena Weigman won it for The Netherlands as a manager.
July 27, 20222 yr Well done England! Dug in to the game and 2nd half Russo changed the game completely. Great effort - some very dodgy goalkeeping, but that's always going to be a part of the women's game due the difference in physicality and height to male football. France/Germany will pose a much greater challenge (from what I have read!) - but a massive achievement and hopefully a real legacy for women's football in England.
