Ed Sheeran’s just announced a new single for next Thursday! It’s titled ‘Celestial’, and it’s being released as a tie in for the new Pokémon games.

Interesting! Curious to see if it does well and gets him another number 1 or flops

In genuine bad news, there's an Ed Sheeran collab on the D-Block Europe album out tomorrow

Are there any pies Sheeran does not have his fingers in?

Hmmmm I’m guessing Jonathan Pie. I mean we can’t be certain but he doesn’t seem like someone who’d appreciate Ed’s fingers in him.

I was having a good day until I read this lol

Why oh why do they need to release an album

oh my a collab between DBE & Ed + a Pokemon Ed single... and when you think things cannot get worse

just read Lewis Capaldi is releasing a cover of Drivers Licence tomorrow :D

the DBE & Ed song is called Lonely Lovers and is the focus track on release week already added to NMF AU

I've literally just put an apple and rhubarb pie in the oven and I'm pretty sure he doesn't have his fingers in that

If he thought it had a chance of registering as a charting single he probably would.

The Post Malone x Pokemon song peaked at #76 so I wouldn't even be considering #1 lol. If it goes Top 40 it'll be doing pretty well.

Because there is no middle ground between those two things :kink:

Ed really seems to be doing quite an excessive amount of features recently. Including a couple that have gone by basically unnoticed. Although I imagine one with DBE being pushed as the focus track from their new album will do at least moderately well.

Is there anyone he won't collaborate with?

I'm waiting to see what he does at Christmas. My money's on Lewis Capaldi & Ed Sheeran feat. Drake.

A new Stormzy song has just dropped, although doesn't look like it's a particularly commercial release (7 minutes long and looks like it's all rapping with no hook similar to the last Dave release that didn't go top 40) - still, may mean he's gearing up to drop a big commercial single pretty soon, feels like he's been away for a while.

This week seems to be packed with releases from big names although definitely not expecting all of them to be hits. Inb4 it's another week with like 1 new entry in the top 40.

The Ed Sheeran duet not even being the DBE track promoted on NMF. Colour me shocked.

Can we make Star Walkin' another hit for Lil Nas X please?

I hope this isn't another My 24th Birthday situation where it doesn't make Top 40, Mel Made Me Do It isn't quite as good as that but it's still great and it'd be nice to see it Top 40. It's #1 on NMFUK so we can hope at least.

The DBE track on New Music Friday is one that they just dropped a music video for as well so I guess that was just not true about the Ed collab being the focus track. It's quite deep into the tracklist on the album as well so now not as sure that it'll make much of an impression on the chart. Maybe it'll be one they push a bit later on like 'Ferrari Horses'/'Make You Smile'.

They have kept the tracklist of this album a bit shorter than most of their previous releases, clocking in at a 'mere' 16 tracks, 4 of which were already singles. That's still at least 15 more tracks than a D-Block Europe release needs to be though of course, and that's being generous...

bit strange the order of the tracks in the DBE album with all the recent singles at the end together with the Ed collab

really surprised they're not pushing it as they do in AU for instance

but I'm sure Ed's song for Pokemon is gonna be #1, just cos the Post Malone pokemon song flopped doesn't mean anything

Ed's gonna do for it like if his life depended on it (unlike Post Malone)

He already has the 30,000 99 cent singles signed by the intern ready to flip
