I'd be pretty pissed off if I was Peru, since they finished 5th in South America, not Chile, whether they played and lost in the intercontinental playoffs or not.
Ah, I thought this had blown over! Really hope Ecuador keep their spot, it would be quite the issue to change it all now (what would they do with the Panini stickers??) let alone a massive disappointment for the country.
Chile's hopes of securing a last-minute ticket to the World Cup in extraordinary circumstances were boosted on Thursday when Ecuador's Byron Castillo failed to attend a FIFA Appeal Commission hearing into his nationality.
Chile lost their appeal and Ecuador keeps their spot.

so why was their such a massive fuss about it all if he was from Ecuador

Ecuador are set to retain their place at this year's World Cup in Qatar after Fifa dismissed a claim of ineligibility against their player Byron Castillo.

Fifa deemed in June that the right-back is eligible but the Chile and Peru football associations lodged appeals.

Now Fifa's appeals committee has said that Castillo does qualify for Ecuador.
