The first single from Stormzy’s upcoming album has dropped and it’s called ‘Mel Made Me Do It’. It’s a 7 minute track so not the most commercial.

Mel is his stylist Melissa's Wardrobe. #melmademedoit has been a hashtag associated with her since at least last year it seems.

Not feeling this at all. Probably has about 3 spins of replay value. Interested to see if it clears 60k first week. Probably will, but overall the sales and performance of his upcoming third album will be interesting to see given how absent he's been since 2019.

It definitely won't and I'm pretty sure he's not aiming to with this! One would assume he'll be dropping a shorter poppier single for the charts ahead of the album but this seems more like a statement of his return than an attempt at a big comeback hit single. Dave released a similarly lengthy all rap no hook single a few weeks ago and missed the top 40, I expect this will do a bit better as there's more hype around it being a comeback release / the music video but I'd be shocked if it was contending for much higher than like low top 10 at a push.

Stormzy has a new album out on 25th November titled This Is What I Mean but unfortunately, this song will not be appearing on the album
